Method for processing internet request files WO 2002059781 A2 RÉSUMÉ The invention concerns a method for processing history files of Internet requests addressed by a plurality of clients to an Internet site server, the clients and the server being connected to the Internet network and the server comprising a certain number of pages. Said method comprises steps which consist in: establishing a request history file at said server; classifying said requests by client groups; deducing from the classified request a history of transactions carried out successively by each client group; establishing for each client group a state of partial paths centred on each page of said server; deducing from said state a multidimensional representation of page-to-page transitions performed on the server; reducing said multidimensional representation to not more than three

illustrates a first method of taking account of transitions page by page on the site; - Figure 4 illustrates the processing of information of Figure 2; - Figure 5 illustrates a second shooting mode into account page to page transitions on the site; - Figure 6 shows the positioning of a specific page in the multidimensional space; - Figure 7 illustrates the transitions page to page in this space; - Figure 8 shows the reduction of this space in a plane; - Figure 9 is a representation of the site in the plane of Figure 8; - Figure 10 shows typical routes in the representation of Figure 8; and - Figure 1 1 shows the type of information collected in real time on site by the method of the invention. Seen in Figure 1 the Internet 1 by which a terminal 2 HTTP requests addressed to a server 3. The server 3 transmits the requests to a processing unit 4, which retrieves the requested information from a database 5 for returning it to the terminal 2 via the network. In known manner, the HTTP requests are intercepted upstream and the server 3 are provided to a JAVA servlet 6 whose function is to interface with the device of the invention. Upon receiving a request, the servlet generates a new request having the database query as a parameter. It recognizes the controls and manages the response to protocol. This results in identification of the input variables, filter leading to remove non-meaningful queries (e.g. gif, jpg image requests), and the generation of output variables. Su r a commercial site, such output variable can be for example the type of product concerned by the request. The device of the invention also includes a list of seven parameters including a site map prepared as described below. This card allows a transformer 8 to extract requests processed by the servlet 6 relevant information to be provided to an analyzer 9. This analyzer 9 developed a profile for each incoming session, consisting of a collection of notes. This profile is determined using a neural network 10, the type and weight to the nodes are among the parameters 7 list. This profile is provided with a unit 1 1 which extract from a database 12 the actions to be transmitted to the processing unit 4 to adapt the site to the client. For example, such an action may be to display a banner offering a free first delivery to a customer not having yet benefited. Figure 2 shows a history of queries provided to the transformer 8, including image requests have already been eliminated, the date and time shown in the lead, then the identifier of the origin of the request. From this history, we can establish a table such as that of Figure 3, giving each client the displayed page of the site and the time t visualization, which helps determine the transitions page 13 to page. One can then determine the state of Figure 4, wherein each cell represents the percentage number of passage from page i to page j for each value of i and j. Alternatively, sets the state of Fig 5, wherein it is seen that when a client is on page i, it belongs to the page j in a_% of cases, and passes the page k b k in% cases. One can thus represent, as has been done in Figure 6, the page preceding a page, in a space of N dimensions, N being the number of pages of the site, on each axis the percentage of above case. More generally, there is shown in Figure 7, in a space 2N-dimensional, a cloud of points where each point is a page and wherein the coordinates are equal to the percentage of cases where the previous page, next, respectively, is another page given. Determining an envelope 14 of this scatter plot, which is divided into areas to form groups of pages. It then calculates the distance between these zones and is not on a plane 15 that dense areas visualizing traffic areas which determine the site traffic. One can for this purpose, but not exclusively use the known method of Kohonen maps. Figure 9 shows the plan of a resulting merchant site. The percentages shown are percentages of purchase for a customer viewing a given page. Using the same database, one can, by statistical analysis, determine the types routes such as those shown in Figure 10. It was finally shown in Figure 1 January relevant information that can be extracted from a history such as that of Figure 2. The number in the first column identifies the session. This is followed by a criterion specified according to the site (e.g., here, a buyer identifier 1, 2 along a non-buyer and 3 a short non-buyer). The third column indicates the location on the map 15, and the fourth time spent on the site.
