Keyboarding
Beginning typists should begin in the Alphabetic Keyboarding section. This module is divided into 20 lessons that teach the alphabetic keys, shift keys, SPACE BAR, ENTER/RETURN, CAPS LOCK, TAB, and the basic punctuation keys. Click on a lesson title to begin a lesson. Click on the Back or Home button to exit the lessons. Each lesson contains activities to help students learn new keys, combine keys, improve keystroking, and build speed and accuracy. Movies and animations illustrate office ergonomics, hand positioning, and difficult concepts such as chaining. Additionally, the Key A Shot game challenges students to improve their keyboarding skills by offering an exciting, yet pedagogically sound, approach to learning. Each lesson contains a report that reflects the student’s performance for each activity. Through Instructor Utilities, the teacher can require students to work through the alphabetic lessons in order. Click on Lessons, Alphabetic Keyboarding and then select Lesson 1. You do not have to complete each section to move on to the next; click on the tabs across the top to move to a new section. You can exit the lesson at any time by clicking on the Back button.
