Conclusion ✓MRSA epidemiology is changing. ✓Our group presented the first report on MRSA ST398 t899 recovered from wild boars in Portugal.
✓MRSA presence in wild animals could imply risks to human health because those zoonotic bacteria could be not only a reservoir but a vehicle of multidirectional exchange of resistant determinants. ✓Epidemiological studies should continue to better understanding MRSA bacterial dinamics in Portugal, one of the european countries with higher MRSA rates.
