Carducci Education

Carducci Friends & Patrons

As a Quartet we have always been passionate about music education and committed to taking live chamber music into schools and coaching young musicians. Our aim is to perform to over 5000 school-age children each year, and funding from Trusts, particularly the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust and our own Carducci Music Trust has been able to make this aim a reality.

In the 2013/14 season we have given workshops in several Gloucestershire Primary and Secondary Schools, funded through the Carducci Music Trust. This spring we’ve been working with string players at Highnam Primary School, and Heron Primary School, Gloucester, as well as Newent Secondary School, and some of the young musicians we’ve worked with will be joining us for the ‘Musical Picnic’ at the Festival. “When I walked in to the hall I thought, oh no, this is music for old people.... but it was brilliant!!”

We are delighted that many of our audience members have chosen to form a closer relationship with the Quartet by becoming Carducci Friends or Patrons. Since we established it in 2009, the Carducci Music Trust has raised more than £50,000 to fund our work with young musicians, and to support the Carducci Festival. As a thank you, Friends and Patrons benefit from priority booking for the Festival as well as an annual Friends and Patrons party and further opportunities to meet the Quartet through the year. “I am a patron of the Carducci in recognition and gratitude of the tremendous impact they have on children and the continuing inspiration they continue to have.” Louise Earll, Carducci Patron

Year 4 pupil, Heron Primary School
