Entry and Participation
The contest is open to all students in all grades in the Boston Public Schools. Winners will be selected from four categories, which include: Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Alternative Education.

All entries may be submitted from September 15 through October 15, 2016.
Contest Rules
The Boston Public Schools is home to a vast majority of students who celebrate their differences and identify with cultures from all over the globe. In honor of National Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month, all artwork should reflect the following theme: “Diversity is a strength of BPS." Materials: Any medium including but not limited to: watercolor, acrylic, oil, pen, pencil, crayon, marker, digital, etc. Artwork must be two-dimensional on paper or canvas. Artwork cannot exceed 18” x 14”.
Award
Winners in each category will be recognized by the Boston School Committee on November 2, 2016, and win a $250 prize for their school!

Hispanic-Latino Heritage Art Competition Guidelines Superintendent Tommy Chang and the Office of English Language Learners are proud to announce that the Boston Public Schools will be hosting an art contest in honor of National Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month. The contest is open to all students in the Boston Public Schools. All schools are invited to encourage their students to participate and recognize the history, culture, and significant contributions made by individuals that trace their roots to the Spanish-speaking world. All participants are asked to submit a photograph of their artwork as well as complete a title page. Photographs and title pages can be forwarded to Kevin Montoya at
[email protected] by 11:59 PM on October 15, 2016. All entries will be divided into one of the following categories: Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Alternative Ed. The Office of English Language Learners will appoint a committee to judge the competition. All entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and interpretation of the theme: “Diversity is a strength of BPS.” One (1) winner will be selected from each category with the winners being honored by Superintendent Tommy Chang and Dr. Frances Esparza, Assistant Superintendent, at the Boston School Committee Meeting on November 2, 2016.
