Outline Description
A WW2 underground air-raid shelter located in close proximity to the Tarxien Parish Church.
Property Description
Located in close proximity to the Tarxien Parish Church and served as an air-raid shelter for the Maltese of the locality during the Second World War. The shelter covers an approximate area of 119sqm and had the internal capacity to accommodate around 150 persons. The shelter still retains some of the original numerical references that used to be painted on the door jambs of the chambers as well as small niches in the corridors which were used for the pacing of illuminating lanterns or candles.
