NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management The NEBOSH International Fire Certificate will teach you how to carry out fire risk assessments and identify the range of measures you need to minimise the risk of fire.

Who should study for the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate? The NEBOSH International Fire Certificate is designed for anyone with fire safety responsibilities in the workplace, including:

• Managers, supervisors and employee representatives. • Those with fire safety responsibilities at work. • Those looking to take on fire safety advisory roles.

Entry Requirements There are no barriers to entry to the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate course but it is strongly advised that candidates have a good understanding of basic health and safety which can be gained through studying the RRC Key2Safety or IOSH courses. Assessments are currently undertaken in English and a good standard of written English is essential.

Exemptions If you have been awarded a NEBOSH International General Certificate in the last 5 years and wish to take the International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, you will be exempt from the IGC1 Unit and can simply 'top up' with the IFC1 Unit and Practical Assessment to achieve the new award.

Unit FC2: Workplace-Based Practical Assessment (Fire Risk Assessment)

Assessment Units IGC1 and IFC1 of the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate are each assessed by one two-hour written examination. Unit IFC2 is assessed by a practical assessment carried out in your own workplace. You must pass each of the two

examination papers and the practical assessment to be awarded the NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.

Professional Body Memberships Holders of the NEBOSH International Certificate are eligible for membership of the following professional bodies, subject to meeting the necessary post-qualification experience requirements:

• Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)– Tech IOSH • International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) – Associate Membership
