NEW MEXICO COUNCIL OF CAR CLUBS FOUNDED IN 1977 TO REPRESENT THE AUTO HOBBY IN NEW MEXICO NEWSLETTER FOR JUNE, 2012 NEXT MEETING TO BE AT OLD CAR GARAGE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2012, 7:30pm MEETING AGENDA: Car Show Wrap-Up, All Clubs Picnic, Web Site Updates, Collector Car Appreciation Day, Voting for new officers & director, By-law Changes to be returned by July 25 IMPORTANT NOTICE Two ballots have been mailed out to the representative of Active Member Clubs. One is for the officer elections for President, Vice President, and one Director. Please make sure this ballot is marked and returned by the June 27th Council meeting. It must be returned in the numbered envelope enclosed with the ballot. You may vote online; the instructions are enclosed. The paper ballot then becomes void. The second ballot is for the bylaws proposed changes. It has a return envelope with a number followed by "B", and the ballot must be returned in that envelope by the July 25th Council meeting. The numbers enable the counting committee to determine who has voted. All votes will be confidential. Don't forget to return both ballots in a timely manner in the envelopes provided. The Car Council is a current member of SEMA. Any club may join free. It keeps members updated about proposed legislation that affects the car hobby nationwide. If your club wants to sign up, do it at www.semasan.com/san/join.aspx. It costs nothing and should be informative. The editor will publish any pertinent information received. ****************************************************************************************** Car Show Report The Car Show filled up. The Dawn Patrol was there before the sun cleared the mountains. Cars started arriving before 6am, and the lot was full by ten. About 360 cars, trucks and motorcycles were on display by then. We were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet, and plenty of them came to the show. The Classic Chevy Club and the Duke's Car Club turned out in force, along with many other Chevrolet owners. Our front three rows had an excellent and colorful display of Chevys from 1928 through 1987, and there were more Chevys scattered around the show. What a turnout! The weather cooperated for the whole day, and we had plenty of fresh air and sunshine, all the way through the awards ceremony. A list of the winners is included with this newsletter. There are also pictures, a video, and a report on the web at http://nmcarcouncil.net/2012/2012-nmccc-albuquerque-museum-annual-car-show/ Joyce thanks every one of the volunteers who helped before, during and after the show to create a successful event. A great number of car owners helped with a multitude of jobs, and they shall be rewarded. A pizza lunch is scheduled for July 15 at Village Pizza. It will be free to volunteers; guests are welcome, but they must buy their own lunch. Guest cost will be $10. Lunch will be buffet style pizza, salad, soup, andsoft drink. Please email [email protected] or call 884-7912 if you plan to come. Do not call from June 15 to June 27, as I will be gone. A list of known volunteers is also included on p. 9 of this newsletter. The preliminary income statement for the car show will be available at the June 27th meeting. NOTE: CHAIR LEFT AT CAR SHOW. If you left a bag chair in the 3rd or 4th row of the Museum Car Show, call Ron or Su at 293-0581. We think the owner had a yellow 1955 Chevrolet. ********** New Mexico Council of Car Clubs Minutes May 23, 2012 Meeting The meeting was called to order by acting president John Doran at 7:30 PM and the following club representatives were present; Paul McLaughlin-Mustang Owners Club, ATHS-NM, Ron and Su RymarzOCCA, Gary Zimmerman-Mopar Club, Pat Logan-OCCA, Chuck Logan-CCNM, Robert Gold-Corvairs of NM, Mike Stickler-Corvairs of NM, Jeff and Lauri Rector-NM4W, Raymond Continola-Rickshaws, Lisa BonDurant-Saabisti-NM, David Pachak-Robie-Saabisti-NM, John Hayne-HCCA, Model T's of Albuq, Joyce Clements-OCCA, Chris Padilla-LOE GTOs, Jim Clements-Early Ford V-8, Stan Kravitz-Pontiac Club, Joe Ballengee-AMCC, Albert Muniz-Duke's CC, Frank Chavez-Duke's CC, Louie Paul-RRCC, VMCCA, Bob

The show will be held on June 9, 2012 at the K Mart Store parking lot on Route 528 in Rio Rancho- Cost per vehicle entry is $20.00. New Member Club- We wish to take this opportunity to welcome the new Pontiac Club to our fold. Dennis Seibert- We all know that Dennis Seibert is having health problems that have forced him to resign his post as President of this organization. Joyce Clements brought in a get well card for all of us to sign to let Dennis know that we haven't forgotten him. This card will be sent to Dennis and we wish him well. Nominations To Fill Officer Vacancies- Because of Dennis Seibert's resignation we need to elect some new officers to serve out the remainder of his term of one year. The following names have been submitted for consideration to fill these respective positions: President: Gary Zimmerman, Bob Agnew, John Doran Vice President: Lauri Rector, Louie Paul, Jim Clements, Frank Chavez Director: Joe Ballengee A separate ballot will be mailed out with the next newsletter for club representatives to vote on these nominees. Treasurer's Report: Ron Rymarz reports that as of this date our bank balance shows an increase over last year, that our fiscal year ends on June 30, 2012, and we are in good shape financially. [Bank statements and Income/Outgo lists will be available at the meeting.] Old Business: 501 (c) (3) Status Change- Lisa BonDurant states that she has no new information to report on this subject as of this date. Web Site Updates-David Pachak-Robie reports that we had a little trouble setting up our Pay Pal account but all seems well now. He has added a lot of new photos to our web site and that we have had over 100,000 hits so far. Albuquerque Museum Car Show- Joyce Clements reports that our latest car show was very successful and that we have received a lot of compliments about the show. She wanted to thank all the volunteers who helped out. Special thanks to the Duke's Car Club and the Classic Chevy Club for getting so many Chevrolets out to the show for our special "100 Years of Chevrolet Display". At the end of the day our tally showed that we had between 360-380 entries in the show. By-Laws Changes- Lisa BonDurant spoke about the By-Laws Committee meeting and that the changes proposed will be posted on line for the clubs to vote on. Each club will be allowed one vote. New Business: Collector Car Appreciation Day- John Doran spoke about the "Collector Car Appreciation Day" which will be held on July 13, 2012. In New Mexico the festivities will begin in Santa Fe at the Statehouse where the proclamation will be read. Later in the day we will meet at Tony Kos's "Mild to Wild" shop at 3rd and Summer Streets in Albuquerque for a car show and barbecue. The day will end with a car caravan down to Los Lunas where a celebration is also being planned. All Clubs Picnic- Bob Agnew picked two possible sites for our Annual All Clubs Picnic which will be held on August 12, 2012. The first site was the Bernalillo Visitors Center in Bernalillo and the Oak Flats Picnic Area in the East Mountains. By a voice vote the Oak Flats Picnic Area was Chosen. Bob left a deposit of $170.00 to secure the site and a fee of $5.00 per car will be charged to participate in this event. Bob asked for volunteers to show up at the Old Car Garage on August 11th to load up all the needed supplies. Car Classes Discussion- Towards the end of the meeting Frank Chavez stood up to comment on our choices of car classes at the Albuquerque Museum Car Show. It seems his club, the Duke's, and the Jeep people didn't like the idea that their cars were grouped together for judging. Paul McLaughlin responded that we hear this complaint every year after the show that our choice of car classes tend to exclude certain types of vehicles. Frank said that we should have separate classes for Low Riders and Jeeps and Paul responded that Frank should volunteer for the Car Show Committee in January to decide what car classes we will have in the show. The discussion was drawn out and someone suggested we adjourn because we weren't making any progress to resolve the issue. And at this point the meeting was adjourned. Paul G. McLaughlin Secretary
