Abstract Erythraeus (Erythraeus) albanicus sp. nov. is described from Albania and belongs to the group of species having the basifemoral setal formula 3-3-3. Leptus (Leptus) josifovi is new to the fauna of Albania and Montenegro, Hauptmannia kotorensis is new to the fauna of Albania, H. stanislavae, Abrolophus quisquiliarus, Balaustium nikae, Erythraeus (Zaracarus) budapestensis and Charletonia cardinalis are new to the fauna of Serbia and Allothrombium meridionale is new to the fauna of Macedonia. New records are given for A. fuliginosum from Macedonia and Serbia. Key words: Acari, Erythraeidae, Trombidiidae, new species, new records, larvae
Introduction In Albania, mites belonging to the families Erythraeidae and Trombidiidae are unknown, and in Serbia only Allothrombium fuliginosum (Hermann, 1804) is known (Haitlinger, 2007). From Macedonia six species are known: Erythraeus (Erythraeus) jowitae Haitlinger, 1987, Charletonia krendowskyi (Feider, 1954), Leptus (Leptus) mariae Haitlinger, 1987, L. (L. ) molochinus (C. L. Koch, 1837) [as L. (L.) ignotus (Oudemans, 1903)], Nagoricanella egoni Haitlinger, 2009 and A. fuliginosum. From Montenegro eight species are recorded: Hauptmannia kotorensis Haitlinger, 2007, H. striata Saboori, Šundič & Pešič, 2011, Abrolophus montenegrinus Saboori, Šundič & Pešič, 2012, A. petanovicae Saboori, Šundič & Pešič, 2012, A. quiquiliarus (Hermann, 1804), Erythraeus (Zaracarus) budapestensis Fain & Ripka, 1998, Arknotrombium arknesianum Haitlinger, 2007 and Allothrombium clavatum Saboori, Pešič & Hakimitabar, 2010 (Haitlinger, 2007, 2009a; Saboori et al., 2010, 2011, 2012). In this paper Erythraeus (Erythraeus) albanicus sp. nov. is described and two species new to the fauna of Albania, one species new to the fauna of Macedonia, one species new to the fauna of Montenegro and five species new to the fauna of Serbia are listed. Also new records for A. fuliginosum are given.
Material and methods Specimens were collected by R. Haitlinger in June 2011 in Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. Leptus (Leptus) josifovi was obtained from unidentified Orthoptera; and one specimen was obtained from undetermined Pentatomidae; the remaining specimens were obtained from © 2012 Systematic & Applied Acarology Society
