Students will use hands-on activities and explorations to develop earth science concepts including land formations, forces that change the earth’s surface, the water cycle, and weather. We’re Alive! Biology Camp will focus on the relationships between living things and environments. Through a variety of learning experiences we will look at biomes, food webs, and adaptations. Students will become engineers and will solve challenges taken from some of our most popular fairy tales. Students will use Little Bits, magnetic circuits pre-wired to function as mechanical or electronic pieces. Artwork will be enhanced with this creative, inventive twist to engineering. Actual baseball game experience will be combined with classroom math lessons on place value, fractions/decimals, data/graphing, and geometry. Students will be introduced to programming and will build simple robots using Legos, extending the Lego work they did during the school year. Students will create short stop motion min-movies in this new camp for 2015!

Students will use online programs to create and publish games compatible for all iOS platforms. No coding is required as beginning app creators use “drag and drop” app development tools. Students will design and develop computer games using the Gamestar Mechanic program. They will learn st valuable 21 Century digital skills through experimentation with puzzles and games. Students will work with Lego’s newest robotics product in a self-paced environment where no prior experience is needed. Using robotic skills, sensors, team building skills, and programming, students will get to explore movie challenges focusing on Jurassic Park, Superheroes, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars Students will use multidimensional game toolkits to create their own intricate 3D puzzles and games. No prior coding experience is required for this course. Students will learn about the psychological and scientific aspects of forensic science while utilizing realistic investigation tools. Students will participate in memory challenges based on the USA Memory Championship. Through an innovative programming environment that makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story or playing an interactive game, students will be introduced to object-oriented programming. Students will learn the science of scuba diving with an emphasis on the physics of diving, physiology of divers, and ecology of the diving environment.
