Community Garden 209 West Tupper/ 92 Trinity Vacant Adjoining Lots The current conceptual garden plan is for thirteen beds, three for flowers and ten for vegetables; space for a communal meeting area; and a composting area to recycle neighbors’ yard waste and make our own soil and mulch. There are six downspouts that adjacent neighbors of the garden have agreed to be utilized for rain collection barrels. There are about 20 people in the VETTE Block Club area that have expressed interest in cultivating this garden. The land for the garden is owned by Luis Clay, a generous resident of West Tupper.

Newsletter 2011 Spring Cleanup April 16th! The cleanup will begin at 11:00AM, weather pending. Please meet up with the organizers of the cleanup near the vacant lot across from 95 Trinity Place. Some materials for the cleanup are being provided by the City of Buffalo such as gloves and garbage bags. Tools are being provided by your neighbors. Please bring any materials/tools you have to share including rakes, shovels and brooms. Contact Jim Horn for details.

A request was made on March 19 , 2011 for funding, materials and insurance through Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo. Other sources of funding are also being sought. If you have access to any resources such as soil, straw bales, rain barrels or garden bed border materials please contact Jim Horn. Get to Know Your Neighbors After The Cleanup! April 16th A neighborhood “snack-luck” after the spring cleanup will be held at 95 Trinity Place beginning at 1:00PM. Please bring a food or beverage item to share and to thank your neighbors for making the neighborhood more beautiful! Contact Jessica Gildea for details.

“WoW” – Wine on Wednesdays July And August Beginning in July, WoW will be a chance for neighbors to casually get together and connect. Each Wednesday evening from 8:00PM – 10:00PM neighbors will rotate hosting an outdoor gathering at their residence, weather pending. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine and a glass! The first WoW will be th at 86 Trinity Place on July 6 ! Keep posted for other locations. If interested in hosting one of the WoW gatherings please contact Jessica Gildea.

A quarterly newsletter will be circulated to all residences to keep all of our neighbors up-to-date on the activities and progress of the VETTE Block Club as well as other important announcements.

The VETTE Block Club Logo Contest! A contest for the VETTE Block Club logo that will appear on all publications and materials is being st held. The deadline for submissions is June 1 ! Send your submissions and/or questions to Joshua Hall.

A Neighborhood Watch Community Our area has recently been certified as a Neighborhood Watch Community! Please report any criminal activity to 9-1-1 and to the Neighborhood Watch Committee so that we may keep up on the safety of our community. Any non-criminal activity/nuisances can be reported by calling 3-1-1 or by submitting a 3-1-1 report on the City of Buffalo website at www.citybuffalo.com/311. Examples of 3-1-1 items to report would be a street that needs plowing or cleaning or a utility pole/ light that needs repair. You can also make a crime report tip using 3-1-1. All of this can be done anonymously if desired. Please also let the Neighborhood Watch Committee know when you make a 3-1-1 report so that they may track these issues.
