McGuire College Presentation Night 2013 Tuesday, 17th December 2013, 7.00 p.m. East Bank Centre, Welsford Street. Street. 2014 EDUCATION MAINTENACE ALLOWANCE The Education Maintenance Allowance (E.M.A.) is provided by the Victorian Government to lower income families to help with education related costs. If you have a child under 16, and you hold a valid Health Care Card, Pension Card, or a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible to receive the EMA. The allowance is paid in two instalments, one in March and one in August. In 2014 the annual E.M.A. amount per student is: $300 for Year 7 Students $250 for students in Year 8 – until age 16* *A pro-rata amount is payable for students turning 16 in 2014 How to Apply: Please contact the General Office to apply for the E.M.A. Please bring your Health Care/Pension Card and it must be eligible as at 28th January 2014. Closing Date: 28th February 2014 (Late claims cannot be processed)
PRINCIPAL REPORT It is a very busy time of year with exams and early commencement having taken place over the last couple of weeks. The 2014 Year 7 SEAL students had a special orientation day last Friday and the feedback from these students was glowing. The End of Year Summer Timetable program for Years 7-9 was handed out to students last week. There has been a huge response, with many students choosing to participate in the activities. This is a great opportunity for students to try something new and fun. The teachers who are not running the activities will be very busy planning for 2014. Please see our website www.mcguire.co.vic.edu.au under recent news, where there is more information about our end of year program. Education Maintenance Allowance If you have a health care card please call into school and fill in the form for the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). Please see more information on page 1. Scholarship It was with pleasure that I attended the scholarship award ceremony at Wilmot Rd Primary School last Monday. McGuire College is one of the sponsors of the scholarship program. Fadul Al Saber was the successful student who was awarded the McGuire College scholarship. Congratulations Fadul! Presentation Night Presentation Night will be held on Tuesday 17th December, 7.00pm at the Eastbank centre. All members of our College community are invited to attend. Reports Reports will be available for collection from the school from 3.15 pm on Wednesday 18th and all day Thursday 19th. Reports will not be available for collection after this time. Year 7, 8 & 9 reports will be distributed on Wednesday 18th December at the conclusion of the Violet Town Pool activities.
