NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and SDN (Software Defined Networking) Short Description Telecom operators are facing fundamental business and network changes – a digital transformation. The combination of NFV and SDN enables a revolutionary change in telecommunication architecture and in telecommunication ecosystem in general. The course provides a comprehensive overview of technical aspects of network transformation in line with the business support, cloud computing concept, the offered services and the value it can provide to both the provider and the customer. The course starts with explanation of business motivations, then NFV, SDN concepts are presented in detail based on case study examples. Participants will get a solid understanding of NFV and SDN aspects together with awareness of network architecture transition process and the business impact. Objectives By the end of this training, participants will be able to: • • • • •

Present impact of NFV and SDN on telecommunication industry Make recommendations on domains to benefit the most from the virtualization Discuss the transition process to NFV and SDN Make reasonable assumptions and judgments on the limitation of virtualization Understand the business drivers, and present industrial NFV/SDN ecosystem

• •

Personnel of all departments requiring good understanding of NFV and SDN Suitable for personnel of all levels i.e. engineers, managers, executives

• •

Good understanding of telecom mobile networks functioning Good understanding of basic IT/ telecom concepts
