Have you filled out a Family Data Form?

16

If not, download the form from nbparks.org, and bring it to a Registration Office. Then, choose your preferred method of registration. Your household information must be entered in our registration system before you can sign up for camp.

Residency Some Village of Northbrook residents are not residents of the Northbrook Park District. Non-residents are charged a slightly higher fee for programs. If you have questions about residency, call one of our registration facilities.

Payment Plan • • • •

Available for most four-week camps A deposit of $200 per child per session is due at registration Payments must be made through Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) An EFT Form must be submitted with the Registration Form (Registration Forms will not be processed if turned in without an EFT Form) • Payments will be deducted on the 15th of each month from February through June in equal installments, based on the total program fee • Does not apply to early fee registration discount

Refunds/Withdrawal Fees Prior to June 1, refunds are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the program cost (minimum of $8), unless placed on a participant’s Park District account for future programs. Beginning on June 1, requests for withdrawal from Session I will incur a $200 withdrawal fee. Beginning on June 28, requests for withdrawal from Session II will incur a $200 withdrawal fee. If the original purchase was charged with a credit card, the refund will be placed on that card. If payment was with cash or a check, a refund check will be mailed within two weeks. The refund can also be applied without penalty to a participant’s Park District account for future programs.

Transfers We recognize that some campers may need to change their enrollment, due to scheduling conflicts. Transfer requests will be granted only if the desired program has openings.

Waiting Lists If the camp you want is full, we encourage you to place your child on a waiting list (one per child per session). The Park District will call you if space becomes available in the program and will require payment within 24 hours of notification to confirm enrollment.

Camp Locations Many camp programs are held at area schools. Camp locations will be announced and listed at nbparks.org after May 1.

Group Formation Camp groups are formed by age/grade and school. We try to keep an even number of boys and girls. Friendship requests are not available. Children in the same camp will have the opportunity to hang out with their friends in other groups during the day.

Hot Lunch Program Families in most programs have the option of ordering lunches for campers. In early May, parents will receive a camp packet with details about the program, menu choices and ordering instructions. The hot lunch provider information also will be available in the Parent Handbook. Summer Warm-Up, Hockey Training Academy, Awesome August and Zombie Survival Camp are not included in the hot lunch program, due to shorter days and changing schedules.

Text Message Alerts The Park District will communicate urgent information to parents via text messaging. Parents are encouraged to provide a cell phone number on the Camper Information Form. This number will be used to communicate important last-minute information, such as late buses or inclement weather. More information will be available in the Parent Handbook and reviewed at Parent Orientation. Not all programs use text messaging.

17

Are You Covered? The Park District does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants; the cost would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your personal health insurance plan to be sure you and your family have proper coverage. The absence of coverage does not make the Park District automatically responsible for payment of medical expenses. In addition, certain higher-risk activities require a waiver, which must be signed before the first session.

NSSRA – Inclusion Services

18

The Northbrook Park District partners with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) to offer recreation programs and services to residents of all abilities. NSSRA support staff is available to work alongside program participants, assisting with special needs and behavior. Participants requesting support for the 2017 summer should check the ADA box on the Registration Form. If you are registering online, contact one of our offices to discuss your camper’s needs and request additional support. If you have questions about NSSRA support or have not been contacted about support one month prior to the start of your program, give us a call.
