Paul Orfalea: Philanthropist, author, investing guru, Kinko’s founder and serial entrepreneur, struggled with
Dyslexia and ADD throughout his school years. Paul credits these “disabilities” as the blessings that allowed him to see the world differently than his peers. ‘I learned early that I would only get through school with a lot of help from a lot of people. This dependence taught me how to ask for help, and how to provide what help I could. I learned to appreciate people’s strengths and forgive their weaknesses. This was important when I hired my first coworker at Kinko’s. ” Paul is active in several businesses and is on the Investment Committee of West Coast Asset Management. He shares the benefit of his business and life experiences through his writings, speeches and college courses. Through his family’s philanthropic efforts and public speaking on early care, education, and learning differences, Paul strives to improve resources for the next generation of leaders and educators. Lance Helfert: Lance heads the investment committee of West Coast Asset Management, is on the Board of Directors, and steers its investment strategies. He is also a founding partner of Black Sable Energy. Prior to co-founding WCAM, he also managed a portfolio of more than $1 billion at Wilshire Associates and was involved in a full range of financial strategies at M.L. Stern & Co. In Honor of Bill Agster, our former Region Coordinator and man who helped us launch From his pen, I was a volunteer Director for the National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC) from 1987, in Colorado and served 3- 3 year terms as director on the national board of the organization. I attended board meetings quarterly and was instrumental in planning and presenting at two conventions a year during that nine year period. The organization had close to 750, 000 people. The NAIC lost a significant number of members after the stock market "bubble burst" in 2001. This is the organization of investment clubs in the United States. I lectured to groups on the stock market and how to run a profitable investment club, having spoken to over 1,000 groups throughout the country by 2003. I made many trips out of Colorado for NAIC, mostly to California but also to such places as Florida and Hawaii and many times was able to join me Born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 6, 1935 Departed on Jun. 10, 2010 and resided in Centennial, CO.
