AfterCollege/AACN Scholarship AfterCollege, the leading employment website for nursing/allied health care students, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) have partnered to offer this new scholarship program for students pursuing professional nursing education programs. This scholarship program supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students: • Enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program with the goal of pursuing a nursing faculty career; • Completing an RN to baccalaureate program (BSN); or • Enrolled in an accelerated baccalaureate or master’s degree nursing program.
• Eligibility Nursing students enrolled in a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree program in nursing with a GPA of 3.25 or higher. All applicants must already be enrolled (not just accepted) at an AACN member institution (SLU is a member).

AORN Foundation Scholarship Opportunity for Undergraduates and Post-Gradudates Nursing students (applicant must be in an accredited program leading to initial licensure as an RN), baccalaureate, master, and doctoral candidates with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. • Nursing students (applicant must be in an accredited program leading to initial licensure as an RN), baccalaureate, master, and doctoral candidates with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. International students are welcome to apply. Because we are the member association for perioperative nurses, the applicant must possess an interest in the field of perioperative/surgical nursing. HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program The Nursing Scholarship Program is a selective program of the U.S. Government that helps alleviate the critical shortage of nurses currently experienced by certain types of health care facilities by helping needy students complete their nurse training. In exchange for the scholarship, upon graduation, the newly minted nurses work at these facilities for at least 2 years. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, and provides a stipend. Among qualified applicants with the greatest financial need (e.g., applicants with an EFC between $0 and $5,550): • •

Academic performance. Demonstrates the ability to excel and maintain good academic standing in school. Essay questions. Demonstrates a thorough commitment to a career in nursing; interest/motivation in providing care to underserved communities and relevant work experience and/or activities (i.e., community service, research, and internships) that have prepared the applicant to work with underserved populations. Resume/Curriculum Vitae. Summarizes educational qualifications, work experience, and volunteer/community service in chronological order. Recommendation letters. Provides a detailed description of the applicant’s performance in school; education/work achievements; community/civic or other non-academic achievements; ability to work and communicate constructively with others from diverse backgrounds; and interest and motivation to serve underserved populations through work experience, course work, special projects, research, etc.
It is expected that approximately 350 awards will be made for the 2012-2013 school year. All participants incur, at a minimum, a 2-year full-time service obligation (or part-time equivalent). Deadline June 1

Mary Opal Wolanin Nursing Scholarship The Mary Opal Wolanin Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarships were established to provide financial assistance to students intending to work with older adults. M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund The M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund was established by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Missouri. The scholarship is available to a Missouri boy or girl under the age of 21 training to be a registered nurse, and it may be used in their freshman year or subsequent college years. Applicants must be unmarried and a descendant of a veteran with at least 90 days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard who received an honorable discharge for such service. A photocopy of the veteran’s discharge or separation notice must accompany the scholarship application. • • • •

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) • Loan Repayment Program
• The NHSC LRP seeks primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, and behavioral and mental health providers to provide culturally competent, interdisciplinary primary health care services to underserved populations located in selected Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) (See Definitions) identified by the Secretary of HHS. HPSAs can be found in rural and urban communities across the nation. In return, the NHSC LRP assists clinicians in their repayment of outstanding qualifying educational loans.

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship VA Mortgage Center.com offers five bi-yearly scholarships in conjunction with its Military Education Scholarship Program.
