USA-Ireland. Enjoy a relaxing overnight flight to Ireland! Dublin-Westport. Upon arrival you will be met by your Professional Hammond Tours Driver Guide & Escort. The tour departs Dublin and heads west through the farmland and peat bogs, making a rest stop along the way. Westport enjoys the designation as one of Ireland’s Heritage Towns. It is situated in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, overlooking Clew Bay. One of the few planned towns in the Country, Westport was designed in the 18th Century by James Wyatt. Dinner and overnight at Castlecourt Hotel. Meet & Greet this evening! Westport-Achill Island-Westport. After breakfast we travel to Achill Island. Achill is a large mountainous island connected to the mainland by bridge. The island's magnificent cliff scenery, sandy beaches and hospitality ensure a steady and successful tourist trade. Located on the island's west coast is Doon Kilmore, one of Ireland's most elaborate promontory forts. We also visit Ballintubber Abbey. Founded in 1216 by Cathal Crovderg O'Connor, Ballintubber Abbey is an important sacred Irish historical site. Overnight Castlecourt Hotel. Westport-Connemara-Limerick. Morning departure from Westport. We continue into Connemara. We enjoy the magnificent views of the Connemara region, Ireland’s treasure of wild, natural beauty where Gaelic remains the only spoken language. We travel to Clifden. Clifden is a lively location full of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. The Sky Road in Clifden is one of the best tourist attractions in the entire Connemara region. The circular route is 11km long and takes you out west from Clifden. Simply put, the scenery along the Sky Road is stunning. Very few places in Ireland can match the rugged beauty and range of scenery that can be seen from the Sky Road. We enjoy a visit to Kylemore Abbey. We continue south to Limerick. Overnight Clarion Hotel Limerick. The Burren. We enjoy a tour of The Burren. It is home to rare alpine plants, delicate wonders that grow in the thin soil and crevices gentians, orchids and maidenhair ferns amongst others. The survival of both alpine and Mediterranean plants in this unusual habitat continues to arouse and to delight its visitors. The Burren contains dozens of megalithic tombs, Celtic crosses and a ruined Cistercian Abbey dating from the 12th century, Corcomroe. You can find villages abandoned since famine times and green roads on which you can walk for miles without ever seeing a car. Continue on and gaze at the majestic awe of the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs, a spectacular natural phenomenon, rise 660 feet above the Atlantic. O'Brien's Tower is the best location from which to view the Cliffs. From this vantage point one can see the Aran Islands as well as The Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk Mountains to the north in Connemara. We make our way back to Limerick. Overnight Clarion Hotel Limerick. Limerick-Tarbert Ferry-Tralee-Killarney. After breakfast we travel via the Tarbert Ferry from County Clare to County Kerry. We make our way to Tralee where enjoy a tour. Continue to Ardfert Cathedral. A monastery was founded here by St. Brendan "The Navigator" in the 6th century. There are three medieval churches, an ogham stone and a number of early Christian and medieval grave slabs on the site today. The earliest building is the cathedral which dates from the 12th and 17th centuries. It has a fine Romanesque west doorway, a magnificent 13th century east window and a spectacular row of nine lancets in the south wall. Two effigies of ecclesiastical figures of late 13th - early 14th century date are mounted on either side of the east window. The battlements were added in the 15th century. The pre-12th century block of masonry is clearly visible in the north wall. It is onto Killarney. Overnight Killarney International Hotel. Dingle. After breakfast we depart Killarney for the Dingle Peninsula. The journey begins with some of the most magnificent scenery in all of Ireland. The little town of Dingle is straight out of a story book. The fishing boats in the harbor and tiny brightly painted pubs portray a time that has continued to stand still. The population of 1500 people and only 52 pubs are ready to welcome you this afternoon. Worth the wait is the native seafood chowder served up at lunch time with freshly baked brown bread. We continue on to Slea Head. Along the way, we will see bee hive style huts, originally inhabited by 12th century monks, which overlook the rugged Blasket Islands. The awe inspiring beauty of this particular area is unmatched. There is no other landscape in western Europe with the density and variety of archaeological monuments as found on the Dingle Peninsula. Overnight Killarney International Hotel. Killarney-Cobh-Dunbrody-Arklow. After breakfast we depart Killarney and travel over the Kerry & Cork Mountains to Cobh. This moving exhibit depicts emigration from Ireland during the great famine of the mod 1800’s. We then continue to Wexford and visit the Dunbrody Famine Ship. The Visitor Experience provides a unique insight into a period of history which shaped modern day Ireland and America You will, first of all, view a 9 minute audio-visual presentation which gives the historic background to the Great Famine, and the reason why so many people were forced to emigrate on sailing ships like Dunbrody to America in the mid-19th century. You will see

fascinating footage of the building of the replica Dunbrody, the emotional day of her launching, and also her Maiden Voyage in 2005. You will then follow in the footsteps of a group of Famine emigrants as you board the Dunbrody. A ticket is issued as if it was 1849, and this ticket allocates your space and food rations for the voyage ahead. You will explore the ship, fitted out exactly as it would be for a voyage. You will encounter actors, playing the role of emigrants, in their cramped quarters with their meagre possessions, fleeing as they are a worse catastrophe. They will tell you their harrowing stories of being forced to emigrate. A member of the crew will tell you the story of other voyages and all about life on board a sailing ship. Overnight Arklow Bay Hotel. Wicklow Touring. The Wild Wicklow Tour is the perfect introduction to Wicklow's untamed landscapes. On this Wicklow day tour you'll explore ancient monastic ruins at Glendalough (optional admission), see where film-makers brought a little bit of Scotland to Ireland when filming scenes for 'Braveheart' at Sally's Gap and Military Road (beginning north of Glencree, with its German War Memorial and cemetery and former military barracks to Avhavannagh) At the “Meeting of the Waters”, the Avonmore and Avonbeg rivers come together to form the Avoca River. It was here that Thomas Moore penned his famous Irish Melody “The Meeting of the Waters”. Overnight Arklow Bay Hotel. Arklow-Dublin. After breakfast we continue north. Next stop at Powerscourt Gardens. The gardens at Powerscourt were laid out in two main periods. When the house was rebuilt in the decade after 1731, the surrounding grounds were also remodeled. The design reflected the desire to create a garden which was part of the wider landscape. To the north formal tree plantations framed the vista from the house, while a walled garden, fish pond, cascades, grottos and terraces lay to the south. Walks wound through the wooded grounds and a fine tree lined avenue was created. We continue along the coastline and Bray into Dublin where we enjoy a tour and a Pint at Guinness Storehouse. Overnight Camden Court Hotel. Dublin. On own. I would suggest a Hop On Hop Off Dublin Bus Pass (optional). You will be sure to see St. Patrick’s Cathedral where writer Jonathan Swift gave his sermons, The G.P.O. on O’Connell Street scene of the 1916 Easter Uprising where the bullet holes still remain to this day. Drive through famous Phoenix Park where the Pope said Mass in late 70’s and finally Trinity College to view the 8th century manuscripts, The Book of Kells, still preserved as they were when the Monks produced them all those centuries ago. Make sure to visit Dublin’s oldest Pub this afternoon, The Brazen Head. You might enjoy a Literary Pub Crawl this evening after dinner. Overnight Dublin at the Camden Court Hotel Dublin-USA. After breakfast we are transferred to Dublin Airport. In the off chance that you missed shopping opportunities, Dublin has a large Duty-Free Shop that you can visit once you are checked in for your flight.
