Dangerous Goods Shipping Federal and international shipping rules require that anyone wishing to ship biological materials, infectious substances, or dry ice must complete training in Dangerous Goods Shipping. Pitt EH&S offers a web based program that fulfills the training and certification requirements. In order to receive the required certification for shipping Dangerous Goods, you must: 1. Review and understand the training module for Dangerous Goods Shipping. 2. Complete and submit the quiz on the training module to Pitt EH&S. EH&S will review the quiz, and will certify you to ship biological materials and dry ice upon completion. Shipping regulations change frequently, so it is necessary to re-certify every two years. Contact EH&S at 412-624-9505 with any questions related to the shipment of biological materials and dry ice. Directions to access the online Dangerous Goods Shipping training: 1. Log into www.my.pitt.edu 2. Click on the “My Resources” tab 3. Click on the “Join Communities” heading in the “My Pitt – Community Preferences” box located in the top right corner of the screen 4. Enter “Environmental Health and Safety” in the “Search” box in the top left corner of the screen 5. Click on the “Environmental Health and Safety” link which appears in the “Community Name” section 6. This should bring up the “Environmental Health and Safety” page. You should have the option to join this group on this page. 7. Click on “Training” in the upper left corner of the screen and begin the “Dangerous Goods Shipping Training” module 8. Once the module is completed, open the “Shipping Training Quiz” and complete it 9. Submit the completed quiz to EH&S via fax 412-624-8524 or email: [email protected]
