Oracle WebCenter Content on Oracle SuperCluster T5-8

Introduction Oracle WebCenter Content delivers a truly unified enterprise content management (ECM) system that provides tremendous scale and a full array of rich functionality, including document and imaging management, content publishing, digital asset management, and records and retention management. Oracle WebCenter Content running on Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 can address the need for a high-volume, unified ECM infrastructure. Integrated as a free-standing solution in a preracked and preconfigured system, Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 is delivered assembled, tested, and ready to run as a complete and optimized infrastructure built with best-of-breed servers, storage, networking, and software. Oracle WebCenter Content can also be easily added to an existing Oracle SuperCluster-based workflow in a reliable, scalable, and efficient manner, providing organizations with the confidence they need to deploy effective content management solutions. The benefit of deploying Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 for Oracle WebCenter Content is that it provides headroom for growth with opportunities for server consolidation of additional business applications. For increased business benefit, the applications can also be content-enabled through Oracle WebCenter Content application adapters and provide fast ROI by eliminating paper and automating business processes.

Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 for Oracle WebCenter Content Designed to allow the rapid deployment of a proven, unified ECM infrastructure, Oracle WebCenter Content on Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 helps eliminate the cost and risk associated with deploying disparate solutions. Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 delivers a complete infrastructure solution providing initial headroom and future scaling, with the highest performance, security, and manageability with the lowest TCO. Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 is also an ideal platform for running Oracle WebCenter Content supporting efficient high-volume content ingestion of over 600 million documents per day, full-text search of over 815 million documents per day, and a high-performance cryptographic layer, incorporating the highest levels of security at all stages (Figure 1). Based on Oracle’s newest SPARC T5-8 servers, the Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 is deployed, managed, and serviced as a single engineered system. When Oracle WebCenter Content is deployed on Oracle SuperCluster, the system can also run content-enabled enterprise applications and provides the scalability, reliability, and security of Oracle Solaris; the optimized database performance of Oracle Exadata Storage Servers; the ultra-high performance gained from running Oracle Exalogic software for middleware deployments; and accelerated Oracle Fusion Middleware processing. The advanced consolidation capabilities of Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 are further enhanced by integrated virtualization technologies such as Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle Solaris Zones, which work together to enable maximum flexibility for supporting concurrent applications. Organizations can deploy multiple applications and databases with optimal performance, all augmented with Oracle WebCenter Content enablement that will help to increase the efficiency of line-of-business operations.

Maximize Business Results with Improved Consolidation Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 has increased processing power and memory, with twice the number of cores over its predecessor. Oracle WebCenter Content deployments currently running on Oracle’s SPARC servers or on a competitor’s servers can deploy consolidated content management on Oracle SuperCluster T5-8, often with considerable savings. Consolidation is not limited to running Oracle WebCenter Content, because Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 improvements allow maintaining the same amount of processing power previously used for Oracle WebCenter Content and freeing more cores to enable new applications to run on the platform. Organizations can deploy multiple application environments, all with content-enablement, on a single Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 platform. The platform’s ability to easily adjust resources for better utilization as requirements change can reduce the data center footprint and help eliminate aging infrastructure for substantial cost savings.

Content-Enabled Applications Increase Efficiency Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 is designed to provide complete enterprise infrastructure, offering the best application performance, running all enterprise applications, and running all database and middleware—all the time. Oracle WebCenter Content running on Oracle SuperCluster can deliver extreme operating efficiency and cost savings for organizations. Enterprises now have the headroom to deploy multiple databases and multiple Oracle, third-party, and custom applications on a single Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 platform, reducing IT cost and complexity through consolidation. With a full array of ECM services integrated within business applications, organizations can effectively and efficiently capture, share, and distribute digital and originally paper-based documents and reports via the main application, public websites, intranets, or other applications, increasing productivity and operational efficiency.

Application Adapters for Oracle WebCenter Application adapters for Oracle WebCenter enable users to easily access, view, and act on business transactions directly from within business applications while providing access to supporting content. The same abilities are provided from outside the application environment via intranet or extranet websites built with Oracle WebCenter Suite. These adapters enable a wide variety of solutions that increase the efficiency of line-of-business operations or integrate with third-party applications to integrate them into enterprise websites. The adapters allow organizations to organize and more completely understand the hidden benefits within unstructured data, while providing enterprise-class Oracle Fusion Middleware infrastructure to support applications. Two examples of the many ways application adapters can pair with Oracle WebCenter Content to achieve operating efficiency and lower TCO are described in the sections that follow.
