This position is being offered as a work placement initiative for 13 weeks with the possibility of extension. About Culture Days Culture Days is the largest national awareness campaign to support arts and culture in Canadian history. Each year this initiative culminates in a three-day celebration of the arts starting on the last Friday of September. Produced by a network of arts and culture leaders across the country, the 2017 Culture Days saw more than 2 million Canadians take part in 6255 activities taking place in 789 cities and towns. Job Details The Outreach and Program Coordinator will be involved in many aspects of the planning and execution of the provincial Culture Days events including program coordination and the development of outreach initiatives. Tasks include: Working with staff and stakeholders to develop the community web pages Working closely with the Outreach and Program Manager to coordinate Ontario Culture Days programs including the Youth Arts Ambassador Program and Culture Days @ the Library Developing outreach initiatives with the Culture Days network Creating resources and content for activity organisers Collecting, writing and sharing stories about Culture Days via social networks, the Culture Days blog, enewsletter and website Developing content for Culture Days social media platforms Assisting with website updates
Qualifications: A graduate of an undergraduate or post-graduate program in Arts Management, Communications, Event Management, Cultural Policy, Museum Studies, Visual or Performing Arts or a related field Experience planning arts and culture programs Excellent communications skills (written and spoken) Possess a high level of familiarity with computer programs, especially Microsoft Office and social media platforms. Experience with Word Press is considered an asset Some experience with database, video editing, and design software is an asset An ability to work unsupervised; maintain a pro-active attitude towards achieving goals and possess excellent attention to detail Advanced reading comprehension, writing and conversational French will be an asset A desire to work in the arts and cultural sector and a passion for the arts, culture and heritage In addition to these qualifications, the candidate must meet the following requirements required for this government-funded placement: The candidate must: Be 30 years of age or under Hold a post-secondary diploma or degree Be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act Be legally entitled to work in Canada Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
