WebEx Overview WebEx is a web-based, collaborative technology that allows users to share resources (documents, desktops, web-browsers, etc.) remotely and communicate with each other using voice, video and chat. WebEx is a great tool to use in the classroom to allow easy wireless projection of content from your personal laptop or a student’s laptop. To learn more about WebEx and its features, visit: http://www.towson.edu/webex.

Preparation Always visit your classroom at least a day before class to make sure you have compatible equipment and cables and test everything. Giving yourself plenty of time to get help from your department or the Office of Technology Services helps avoid last-minute surprises and frustrations for you and your students.

Connecting Presenting from a Laptop 1. In your web browser, go to towson.webex.com (students should go to towsonstudents.webex.com). Click “Log In” in the upper right hand corner and login using your Net ID and password. 2. To begin your meeting, click “My WebEx” in the menu bar at the top of the screen and then click “Start Meeting”. 3. On the right side of the screen, you can choose to start video using the webcam on your device. On the left hand side, you can use “Call Using Computer” or “Connect to Audio” options to connect audio. 4. To begin sharing your screen, choose “Share Screen”. Your screen will now be visible to all participants in the meeting. 5. For a student to share their screen, they will first need to join the meeting. To join the meeting, the student needs to enter the meeting URL found under the “Meeting Info” tab. Once they have signed in, you will be able to make the student a presenter by clicking on their name and choosing “Make Presenter”. 6. To end the session, choose “Leave Room”. You and all other participants will be disconnected.

Presenting from a Mobile Device 1. Download the WebEx app from the App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device. 2. Launch the app, and click “Sign In”. 3. Type your TU e-mail address and click “Next”. 4. Enter “towson.webex.com” when prompted for a “WebEx site URL” and click “Next”. 5. Log in with your TU NetID when prompted. 6. Chose “Open” when prompted to open the site in the WebEx App.
