P-04 Johann B. Trommsdorff (1770-1837), Jędrzej Śniadecki (1768-1838) and Jan Fryderyk Wolfgang (1775-1859) as modernizers of pharmacy practice Anita Maria Magowska Department of History of Medical Sciences, Poznań University of Medical Sciences
The poster presents Johann Bartholomäus Trommsdorff (1770-1837), Jędrzej Śniadecki (1768-1838) and Jan Fryderyk Wolfgang (1775-1859) and their views on pharmacy as a branch of science and professional practice. They were at the almost same age. Trommsdorff was an outstanding figure of German chemistry and pharmacy, known as the founder of a first pharmaceutical institute in Germany and a primary periodical on pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry. Śniadecki was a Polish physician, who moved to Vilnius to take the chair of chemistry, organize an university chemical laboratory and give lectures on pharmacy and dispensing. Jan Fryderyk Wolfgang (1775-1859) was the first professor of pharmacy at the University of Vilnius and a co-founder of a first Polish pharmaceutical journal. MATERIAL-METHODS: two Polish-language Trommsdorf’s works on laboratory practice and pharmacy (one published in Vilnius in 1811) were compared with an inventory of Śniadecki’s chemical laboratory in Vilnius and Wolfgang’s lectures on pharmacy. RESULTS: Trommsdorf’s works were systematized and practical, Śniadecki more focused on chemical practice, Wolfgang wrote about theoretical and practical pharmacy.

La fondation « Bibliothèque historique de la pharmacie suisse » fut créée en novembre 2008 à Berne sous les auspices de la Société suisse des pharmaciens, pharmaSuisse, et de la Société suisse d’histoire de la pharmacie. Il s’agissait de mettre en valeur un fonds ancien d’ouvrages de pharmacie, de revues et de documents divers qui rongeait son frein dans une cave de pharmaSuisse. Un contrat fut signé avec l’Institut d’histoire de la médecine de l’Université de Berne qui abrite désormais l’ensemble des livres de la bibliothèque. Ceux-ci
