Certification standards for Sustainable Palm oil
EU import of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil
In food and and HPC (home and personal care products), the main certification standard used is the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The RSPO has developed a set of environmental and social criteria which companies must comply with in order to produce CSPO. In 2015, 12,9 million MT was certified according to the RSPO Principles and Criteria.
(Mass Balance and Segregated) 2012 2013
Other certification standards for sustainable palm oil are offered by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and Rainforest Alliance. Indonesia and Malaysia have developed their own standards for certified sustainable palm oil. The Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) are important steps towards more sustainable production.
