From the Parish Office Prayer to St. Joseph Oh Good St. Joseph, watch over The Parish Church of Corpus Christi. through your intercession, may God’s fullest blessing be upon our clergy and parishioners.

Dear Parishioners, I want to let you know that the ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC’s preliminary geotechnical engineering report has been published for our church property on Marrwood Drive.

As you provided for Mary and Jesus, when He had “no place to rest his head,” so too, bless us with a Church And stable home.

It is a lengthy report. All parties have not met to review and discuss the findings but [from my initial reading], the report seems positive. Some highlights:

Grant us a generous spirit and patience to endure joyfully whatever challenges or crosses Our Lord may ask us to carry.

26 borings were taken form around our 17.9-acre property. Drilling locations were identified by J2 Engineers (our civil engineering firm, familiar with future building locations)

St. Joseph, faithful guardian of Christ, Pray for us.

An ATV-mounted drill rig was utilized to drill the soil test borings to the proposed depth of 10+ to 15+ feet below the ground surface.

Monthly Offertory Summary

Some info about our regional/site geology: “The site is located within the central portion of the Culpeper Triassic Basin which extends form the Rapidan River near Madison, Virginia to just west of Frederick, Maryland. The Culpeper Basin a s structural trough, or halfgraben that formed as a result of tensional tectonic activity during the Triassic Geologic Period (+250 million years ago).”

First Collections Building Fund Capital Campaign

October 2017 $ 61,176 $ 19,524 $ 14,607

Parish Church of Corpus Christi “For God, All Things Are Possible” Capital Campaign

From the section titled Preliminary Findings/ Recommendations, one comment stood out the most to me: “In general the site appears suitable for construction of the proposed development. The primary factor that could affect the proposed development are the presence of shallow rock surface and the potential for perched groundwater.”

Please use Faith Direct or your blue envelopes when making a payment on your pledge. You may mail your blue envelope to the parish office, or drop it in the collection basket. Please call the parish office if you have questions, or if you need more blue envelopes. Thank you for your generosity.

I’m not surprised that the ECS is concerned about the presence of shallow rock (we do live in an area called Stone Ridge with multiple quarries surrounding us), I am just glad that nothing appeared significantly problematic in their initial testing. I will keep you informed about information shared by the ECS professionals as the review of the material continues.

For Online enrollment, please go to www.faithdirect.net and use Church Code VA315

May the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph continue to watch over our parish. Sincerely in Christ, Fr Taylor St. Joseph, Faithful Guardian of Christ, pray for us!

Pope Francis’ Prayer Intentions Christians in Asia That Christians in Asia, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace, and mutual understanding, especially with those of other religions.

News for our Parish MASS TIME CHANGE Thanksgiving Day Mass and Holy Hour Thursday, November 23, 2017 TMIY will be taking a break this coming week, with no meeting scheduled for Friday, November 24. We’ll meet back up on the following Friday, December 1. We wish everyone a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Holy Hour and Confessions will begin at 9:00 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am Father Taylor, Father Merkle and the ladies of the Parish office wish you a Joyful and Blessed Thanksgiving

Fr. Michael Schmitz, a renowned and beloved speaker and spiritual guide to the Young Church, discusses the all-important topic of God's existence. Armed with his usual repertoire of lively humor and sound philosophy, Fr. Mike reveals the incredible implications of the question which Christ asks all of us: "Who do YOU say that I Am?"

Reflection: “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.”- MATTHEW 25:21 God expects us to nurture and develop the gifts He has given us and then generously return a portion with increase. He doesn’t want us to waste or hoard the gifts He has given us; He expects us to grow our gifts, use them wisely and be generous with them. Unfortunately, many of us are not generous in proportion to all that God has given us.
