Contact Dr C Jenkins Dr M Martin

After Paracetamol bottles now recycled

Outcome Environmentally friendly Cost saving 2009 NHH used 23165 bottles paracetamol = 7573kg empty weight Disposal in sharps bin costs £619/ metric ton. Cost of paracetamol disposal = (7573 x 619)/1000 = £4688 Disposal in clear bag costs £50/ metric ton. Cost of paracetamol disposal = (7573 x 50) /1000 = £379

New recycling NHH scheme saves £4688 - £379 = £4309 (RECURRING) NB paracetamol usage has increased since 2009 so savings greater
