Penn State Center for Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems (CIHDS) A unit of the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Interdisciplinary Research Symposium Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 1-5pm University Conference Center, Hershey This symposium is being organized to bring researchers from the Penn State College of Medicine together with colleagues from the Colleges of Engineering, Health and Human Development, and Information Sciences and Technology to explore ways to collaborate on issues that plague the healthcare system in the U.S. The Center for Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems (CIHDS) was formed with a mission to capitalize on the existing strengths of Penn State and promote a holistic approach to understanding and solving problems of access and quality in healthcare delivery. Over the past three years, CIHDS researchers have made progress on a number of research projects including: § Service Product Platform and Incentive Modeling for Complex Health Care Systems § Information Visualization for Patient Management of Hypertension § Empirical Development of a Multidimensional Information System to Predict Patient Adherence § Transitions of Care in Hospitalized Patients – Variations of the Admission Process § Investigating Barriers to Using Electronic Medical Records in Collaborative Work Please refer to our website for additional background and information on previous work. This symposium will highlight some of this earlier work and review current RFPs for federal funding. The goal of the symposium is to inform the RFP that will appear later this fall for $50,000 in seed funding provided by the College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and the Office of the Vice President for Research.
