Pentatonic Scale Tab About Fretboard Theory Free Tab
This collection of free tab will help you get started learning melodies, riffs, solos and bass lines based on pentatonic scale patterns. It’s a perfect resource for applying the scale and music principals taught in Fretboard Theory.
Did you know that:
* * *
99% of popular music is Pentatonic and Major scales. Scales aren’t just for playing guitar solos. Rhythm guitar players can benefit from scales too.
You Don’t Need to Learn a Bunch of Scales
You need to learn all the different ways of playing and applying the Pentatonic and Major scale patterns. When you learn how to do this properly you’ll have 99% of the music you listen to covered. That’s the truth! If you want to explore the other 1% after reading Fretboard Theory then you’ll have the proper foundation to do it.
Chapter 2: The Pentatonic Scale
Chapter 2 of Fretboard Theory, which is also available for purchase on DVD, not only teaches you everything for getting started with the Pentatonic Scale, but includes additional insight most veteran Pentatonic players are missing out on.
Rhythm Guitar
The purpose of learning how to apply the pentatonic scale, or any scale for that matter, isn’t solely for playing guitar riffs and solos. Even if you’re strictly a rhythm player you can make good use of occasional scale phrases. You can even add pentatonic notes to old chords and create rich new sounds.
Compose On Your Guitar
There’s one more thing about applying the pentatonic scale you should take into consideration. The pentatonic scale isn’t a scale unique to only guitar and bass players. All instruments utilize the pentatonic scale including voices. Many songs have pentatonic scale vocal melodies, keyboard parts, horn parts and more. These things can be worked out and arranged on your guitar if you know your scales.

About Free Tab
Please note that Fretboard Theory only teaches the theory behind songs. It is NOT a tab book and won’t teach you how to play songs. But, I’ve included special details along with the notation that correspond to what you learn in the book about scale patterns, keys and major/minor tonalities. These songs range from beginner level through advanced and make perfect exercises for developing Pentatonic Scale technique. The better you learn these and play along the more you’ll train your ear too.
