Rare arrow-head folded pipe vesicles with either sharp or short rounded hinges observed on an approximately N-S trending subvertical exposure of basalt, Lonavala Sub-group, Deccan Igneous Province, Malsej Ghat, Maharashtra. The yellowish part at bottom is the base of the flow of basaltic lava. In this case, lava flowed towards left. Deformed vesicles are important in volcanology since they indicate flow direction of lava (e.g. Fig. 4.81A, B in Philpotts and Ague, 2009, Principles of Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology).
