Where the two modules, i.e Photographic and Fashion Make-Up and Media Make-Up are studied at the same time the minimum training hours are reduced to 175.

This course could be covered over a flexible time basis, enabling many part-time students to qualify who would not be able to attend College on a full time basis.

Prepare Henna powder, design Henna patterns and apply Henna paste in a free hand technique and using a stencil. Examples of both techniques to be shown in the portfolio. For each of the tasks listed above, the following marks should be allocated:

The total marks for the portfolios is 600, divide this by 100 to get the final figure for the practical sheet, i.e. if the student gained 540 marks for the total of the portfolios they would actually gain 5.4 marks, which would be entered as 5 on the mark sheet

DIPLOMA IN PHOTOGRAPHIC AND FASHION MAKE-UP Time allowed 3 hours guide for colleges and examiners The school/college must ensure that all models are suitable to receive the techniques required for this examination. See page 5 of the Examination Handbook. All candidates are required to have 2 models for this examination. 1

Preparation of the working area The candidate is responsible for ensuring that the work area is suitably prepared including the positioning of equipment prior to the treatment being carried out.

Techniques Prior to the application of make-up, the client must be suitably prepared, to include skin cleansing. For each of the make-up techniques demonstrated, i.e. Bridal, Fashion and Henna, the candidate must present to the examiner a detailed work sheet. This should state clearly and concisely the design of the make-up, the products to be used and any specific methods of application to be adopted. Candidates are expected to work to these plans and the finished make-ups should relate closely to the notes.

Hygiene The candidates working environment and application techniques must maintain high standards of hygiene and they should be aware of the possibility of cross infection at all times.

Personal Appearance, Deportment and Attitude The candidate should present a professional image and attitude acceptable for makeup application. The positioning of the models should allow the candidates to work comfortably and professionally and without having ill effects on their posture.

Professionalism, Economy & Timing The candidate should present a professional image attitude at all times. Economy of products used must be demonstrated at all times. All work must be completed and presented within the 3 hours.

Oral Questions The examiner will ask up to 4 oral questions relative to the practical examination. 1 question allocated for Bridal Make Up 1 question allocated for Fashion Make Up 1 question allocated for Henna Make Up 1 question allocated to examiners discretion relevant to subject area.

Portfolio All candidates are responsible for presenting a portfolio of evidence on the practical examination day. See syllabus content for detailed inclusion list.

PRACTICAL EXAMINATION ORDER • • • • •
