PIANO JAZZ SUMMIT Uniting Three Generations of Solo Virtuoso Jazz Pianists on One Stage Cedar Walton is a hard pop jazz pianist and one of the most universally respected jazz pianists active today. His most recent honor was to be named the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master for 2010. The NEA Jazz Master is the nation’s highest honor in jazz – Cedar Walton has certainly earned that title several times over. For many decades, Cedar Walton has enjoyed an up tempo career, maintaining a non-stop itinerary of performances and recording dates. He has accompanied a plethora of jazz greats while also fronting his own successful groups. He played in the bands of Lou Donaldson, Kenny Dorham, J.J. Johnson, Art Farmer, and Art Blakey, and recorded with Freddie Hubbard, John Coltrane, and Joe Henderson. "Bolivia" is perhaps Walton's best known composition, while one of his oldest is "Fantasy in D," recorded under the title "Ugetsu" by Art Blakey in 1963.

Jacky Terrasson, winner of the distinctive Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition and two time Grammy nominee, was acclaimed by The New York Times Magazine as “one of 30 artists under the age of 30 most likely to make an impact on American culture in the next 30 years.” Jacky Terrasson has a complete understanding of the blues and improvisation; his feathery keyboard touch is coupled with a lost of power and passion. “Intoxicating…the marvelous Mr. Terrasson transforms familiar sounds into the stuff of gorgeous jazz.” - The Wall Street Journal

Since her 2003 Telarc debut, Another Mind, keyboardist-composer Hiromi Uehara has electrified audiences and critics on both hemispheres with a creative energy that defies the conventional parameters of jazz and pushes musicianship and composition to unprecedented levels of complexity and sophistication. Her output in 2009 has been extensive. She appears on Duet, a two-disc live recording of a performance in Tokyo with pianist and mentor, Chick Corea. She also appeared on bassist Stanley Clarke’s Jazz in the Garden, a May release on Heads Up International. In June 2009, she simultaneously released two concert DVDs. Hiromi scales back to the solo piano setting – but sacrifices none of her innate energy or passion in the process – with her latest album, A Place To Be. Set for Japanese release in September 2009 and U.S. release in January 2010, A Place To Be is a musical travel journal of the many places around the world that have left an indelible impression on her creative sensibilities.
