Session Objectives - need Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to: discuss the physiology and pathophysiology of the placenta and associated structures; explain maternal nutrient transport via placenta to developing fetus and implications related to molecular properties necessary for transport; describe respiratory and gas exchange functions of the placenta during fetal developmental stages; identify abnormal placental pathology and indications related to fetal development.
