The 18st AIRSpace at Harrington Library is a place to learn, share, and create! Engage with artists as they work in the space; spark your creativity and make something wonderful at a workshop; or go free-form with make & take materials! Artists rotate monthly and dates/times in residence are featured on the library website. Workshops are offered twice a month on a first-come, first-served basis. Make & Take projects are available to create based on the artistic style of the current artist in residence.

Brenda McKinney
Brenda is a painter and mixed media artist. Her work ranges from painting to fiber to small sculptural artworks. Brenda’s work has been exhibited in the US and abroad from Canada to Sweden to Italy. She is an active art advocate and is currently the Discovery Gallery curator at Texas Discovery Garden
Workshop: Artist Trading Cards

June: Mail Art Postcards
Create small works of art with paint and rubber stamps that you embellish with recycled images and objects. Put your one of a kind postcard in an envelope and mail it to a friend
July: Painted CDs
Turn CDs into jewels of the universe. Use your favorite symbol and turn it into a colorful style of expression Workshops, facillitated by the 18st AIRSpace artist, provide opportuinites for you to create art in the style of the artist. The Spring Creek Model Railroad Club was formed in 1986 and has evolved into one of DFW’s largest and most unique HO and HOn3 layouts. Club members are responsible for the creation, design, maintenance, and improvement of the club’s layouts. The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless! Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. If you read just one book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years, and 1,095 books in three years. Reading reguarly with young children stimulates development and strengthens parent-child relationships to build language, literacy and social-emotional skills that last a lifetime

A $75,000 “Art Spark” grant from the U. S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (2017) is enhancing art at the Plano libraries!
