Pneumoretroperitoneum, pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema of the neck after stapled hemorrhoidopexy

A 36-year-old man presented in our emergency department for postoperative fever and hypotension two days after stapled hemorrhoidopexy. Physical examination showed only a crepitus of the neck. A suture dehiscence was observed and sutured via a transanal route. 1 The contrast medium showed a leakage (arrow) in the anterior aspect of the rectal wall. 2 Neck radiograph showed the presence of subcutaneous air. 3 Computed tomogram outlined the leakage from the rectal wall. 4 Pneumoperitoneum. 5 Pneumomediastinum. 6 Subcutaneous emphysema
