Opportunity: We’re looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor who is an ambitious, proactive, positive and self-motivated individual who has a proven track record working for a main contractor. Accountabilities 1. Ensure the full and proper implementation of the company’s procedures 2. Manage the financial resources of assigned projects through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts 3. Ensure the accuracy of financial project reporting 4. Work with the Commercial Director to safeguard the companies contractual position 5. Promote & uphold Read’s reputation for providing the highest standards 6. Promote best practice throughout the construction process, developing good working relationships with all project Stakeholders Core Duties • Valuing completed works and ensuring the timely submission of main contract payment applications • Value work executed by sub-contractors and certify interim and final payments. Ensuring that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with the subcontract terms • Prepare and report monthly cost value reconciliations for assigned projects • To participate and advise the impact of variations, design cost control and value engineering • Liaison with the Client and his Representatives • Financial risk management Key Attributes: • Holds relevant qualifications (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable) • Experienced within a similar role (ideally over 5 years) • Strong technical knowledge of construction and extensive experience of commercial processes • Confident IT skills; proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally • Skills - Develop your own skill base as widely as possible, and actively encourage others within your team to do likewise. Work well under pressure • Knowledge - Have an active and enquiring mind with a willingness to learn • Behaviour - Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and in a courteous manner • Friendliness - Demonstrate a friendly yet firm approach to all Read colleagues, supply chain members, suppliers and clients.
