Organization General Description

The Resurrection Project is one of Chicagoland’s most successful community development organizations. Since 1990, The Resurrection Project (TRP) has revitalized predominantly low-income Latino communities on Chicago’s Southwest Side through a variety of community development strategies. The organization started with an initial investment of $30,000 collected from concerned neighbors and area churches. Since then, TRP has leveraged this investment into more than $305 million in community investments to serve more than 30,000 individuals, create more than 600 affordable homes, and develop more than 150,000 square feet of community space to meet a variety of needs. The Resurrection Project serves families from all over the metropolitan Chicago region with a particular focus on the communities of Pilsen, Little Village, Back of the Yards, and Melrose Park.

General Job Description

Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving The Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving will work with the Director of Development to create and direct the department’s priorities and strategies with the goals of increasing visibility, increasing donor retention, and increasing funding. The Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving is responsible for the creation and management of a well-coordinated plan to cultivate and solicit support from foundation, corporation, government, and intermediary supporters. The Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving works with the Institutional Advancement Team to strengthen existing relationships and establish new relationships with institutional supporters. The Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving will also work with Director of Development to improve the department’s processes and procedures with a goal of improving cross-departmental operations. The Donor Relations Manager, Institutional Giving, in partnership with the Director of Development, provides strategic direction and oversight of the assigned staff and interns.

Performance Measures

          

In coordination with the Director of Development, direct short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives. Oversee the creation and execution of a stewardship and solicitation plan that includes a solicitation calendar for annual funding from corporations, foundations, government, and intermediaries. Manage relationships and the solicitation process for corporate, foundation, government, and intermediary supporters and prospects. Strategize with senior staff on cultivation and stewardship opportunities, including relevant briefings. Write documents such as case statements, proposals, solicitation materials, and other relevant documents. Focus on developing strategies for corporate solicitations with an emphasis on “bundling” annual requests where possible. Supervise gift tracking, contact management, prospect research, and stewardship. Develop, monitor, and report on departmental budget as appropriate with the Director of Development including monthly cash flow reports and quarterly forecasts. Participate in the production of communication and marketing materials for the department and organization as appropriate. Stay informed on key trends, reports, and studies that are relevant to TRP’s mission and scope of work. Actively support cross-departmental projects. Assist with the planning and implementation of events to support departmental goals. Enlist and train staff and board members to support fundraising efforts where appropriate. Travel as necessary to develop relationships with co-workers and external funders and partners. Assist in the implementation of the departmental work plan and achieve annual departmental goals. Maintains required job skills and core professional competencies. Perform other duties as assigned. Manage and coach assigned grant writers. Manage assigned interns. Achieve annual fund revenue goals. Achieve annual fund donor base goals. Achieve annual fund proposal submission goals. Submit proposal and reports in a timely manner. Essential Knowledge and Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Candidates must have a:  strong background in corporate and foundation fundraising strategies and techniques;  successful track record in development with a proven ability to 1) solicit and secure grants, 2) meet or exceed goals, 3) establish funding relationships;  strong skill set in project management, writing, and editing;  strong computing skills with mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.;  willingness to meet the high standards of the organization;  minimum of three years experience in all aspects of development (e.g., appeals, grants, donor relations and stewardship, prospect research, campaigns); and  adhere to highest ethical standards.  Spanish-speaking candidate a plus.

Special Working Conditions and Demands

1. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends. 2. Ability to drive and travel occasionally within city and suburbs.
