BIOGRAPHY Warrel Dane is the lead singer of the American power metal band Sanctuary. He is also known as the former lead singer of currently inactive progressive metal band Nevermore. He is a natural baritone, though he was known for his high-pitched vocals with Serpent’s Knight and on the first two Sanctuary albums. Later in his career, Dane became more notable for his distinctively deep, dramatic voice.
Dane was trained for five years as an opera singer and utilizes a very broad vocal range, spanning from notes as low as the G# below low C, or G#1, to notes as high as the Bb below soprano C, or Bb5. While his high head voice style vocals were much more prominent in the older Sanctuary albums, there were instances where he utilizes it in Nevermore as well. Sanctuary’s 2014 comeback album The Year the Sun Died includes these higher passages on three songs. He cites Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Jefferson Airplane, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, The Doors as his musical influences and Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson as his main vocal inspirations.
As reflected in his songwriting, Warrel is critical of religion and government and has expressed mixed feelings towards the advancement of technology.
Dane’s first ever solo record, Praises to the War Machine was released May 13, 2008 on Century Media Records. Currently he is working on a second album which is set to feature metal versions of pop songs of artists such as Depeche Mode, The Cure, XTC and many others. Now it’s time to celebrate de 15th anniversary of “Dead Heart, in a Dead World”, playing the entire album around the world.

HISTORY Dead Heart, in a Dead World is the fourth studio album by progressive metal band Nevermore, released in October 2000. Stylistically the sound is darker than previous releases; Lyrically it ranges on topics such as criticism of drug possession penalties to rejection of religion. The album also features a metal version of Simon & Garfunkel’s hit, “The Sound of Silence”. It is also notable for being Nevermore’s first record utilizing seven-string guitars. In 2005, Dead Heart in a Dead World was ranked number 361 in Rock Hard magazine’s book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. Produced by Andy Sneap, artwork by Travis Smith, released by Century Media Records.

REVIEWS “In a great mood with very good musicians and very good performance the tall blond guy was in a good day (referring to his vocals of course). “Narcosynthesis”, “Inside Four Walls”, “The River Dragon...”, “Believe In Nothing”, “Forever” and “Future Tense” are some of the most emotional and intense moments of the live. And the audience from below, never stopped singing out loud, never stopped jumping or headbang!” http://www.metalpaths.com/reports/2015/11/10/report-warrel-dane-support-acts-athens-greece/
“The “Dead Heart In A Dead World” is for me one of the albums that with “marked”. Warrel Dane appeared on stage with the most classic cowboy-hat, accompanied by four musicians, “recruits” from Brazil and played gulp the entire disk of Nevermore. The moshpits underneath gave and took and sing-along was given to each song.” http://rockinathens.gr/?p=68761
INTERVIEWS On whether there is chance he will release a follow-up to his 2008 solo album “Praises To The War Machine”:
“Yeah, I’m actually working on it now. I’m in the demo stages, and it’s going to be different than the first one. Some of it is just brutally heavy. I mean, ‘Praises To The War Machine’ was more like a rock/metal record. I always wanted to do that — I always wanted to explore more of the rock realm instead of the progressive… whatever you wanna call what NEVERMORE was… Progressive, thrash, death, metal… I think NEVERMORE was pretty much… you couldn’t really define what kind of music it was, and that was the good thing about that. But the new solo record is going to be a lot heavier than the first one. It’s conceivable that it would come out in 2016, because I wanna start recording it sometime around March, but we’ll see. I’ve gotta pick a producer. I’m leaning towards Zeuss [Chris Harris], ‘cause I worked so good with him [on ‘The Year The Sun Died’]. There are a couple of other guys that the record company suggested, and I’m just kind of weeding through that.” http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/warrel-dane-talks-next-sanctuary-album-performing-nevermores-dead-heart-and-second-solo-lp/#obf2s4BuMZurrWJ5.99
“I [played the whole record] in Brazil with the band I have down there. And some European promoter guy saw some of the YouTube videos and found out I was doing that and wanted to bring it over there. [So I was like], ‘Okay. Fine with me.’ People went fucking apeshit in Brazil when I did that. It was crazy! Sometimes they were singing the words so loud that I could not even hear myself on stage. Brazilian fans are very into it — to the tenth power. They’re crazy.
[The musicians in my Brazilian band] are all very good, and they can play the shit perfect. It’s gonna be fun.”
