Teaching and Learning Team

At The Primary Team we know that improving subject knowledge is the key to successful teaching. Research tells us that CPD is most effective for improving practice when it is evidence-based and provides expert challenge. With this in mind we have developed our central training programme to target key areas of subject knowledge in English and mathematics. In response to feedback we have added courses tailored for practitioners in Lower Key Stage 2 as well as enhancing our Year 2 & Year 6 programme with three half days of subject-specific CPD, and developing our training for teaching assistants. Course Name and Brief Description

Suitable for

Subject knowledge development in English and mathematics Teaching Reading in Year 2 Exploring effective teaching for securing the more complex elements of the alphabetic code, moving from reading accuracy to fluency, and developing comprehension skills through vocabulary and knowledge building.
