Purpose: To help authors to decide which journals to submit their work based on the speed of the journal as well as the statistics that they would like to know. This is mainly because in subjects such as Science/ Technology/Finance, journals are much faster and efficient (For ex, Their desk rejection rate is < 10%),and take final decision in maximum 3 months. There was a felt need to do this exercise as some journals in Mgmt/marketing have taken 10 to 12 months to get one review report and 3 months for desk rejection. Method Followed: An email was sent to the editors/editorial offices of more than 50 journals in the Management, International Business and marketing subjects. Most of the editors participated with the statistics. Some of them did not respond. Response rate was 65%. Note: This list is prepared/edited by Dr Justin Paul, Professor- University of Puerto Rico
Graduate school of Business, USA (formerly, faculty member, University of Washington) with inputs from different editors. The editor of this list has used experience- based information as a reviewer, author and SI editor of different journals. He has experience of submitting articles to most of these journals. His page is facebook.com/drjustinpaul and web is drjustinpaul.com and email is
[email protected]. This list will be updated every month, with more journals, providing data. Profile of the editor of this list: Professor Justin Paul
Dr Justin Paul is a full professor with the graduate school of business University of Puerto Rico, San juan, PR, USA. He is known as an author/co-author of text books titled – International Business (6th edition) and Export-Import Management (2nd edition), International Marketing (2nd edition), Business Environment by McGraw-Hill, Pearson & Oxford University Press respectively out of which two books have turned out to be best sellers. Over 100,000 copies of his books have been sold over last 8 years. He is also an author of four Ivey-Harvard case studies, which are used in classrooms worldwide (1. Louis Vuitton in Japan 2. He has served as a faculty member with the University of Washington and as an Associate Professor with the Nagoya University of Commerce & Business- Japan. He has served as an editor of three journals- Small Business Economics, the International Trade Journal and Journal of East West Business for special issues and as an Associate Editor of Journal of Global Marketing. He is also on the editorial board/ERB of Journal of Academy of marketing science, journal of small business management etc. He served as Department Chairperson at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), at age 30 and has been a visiting professor to teach courses at, Aarhus University- Denmark (twice), Deakin University-Australia, Grenoble Eco le de Management-France, Universite De Versailles -France, Vienna University of Economics & Business, ISM University-Lithuania, SP Jain-Dubai and Warsaw School of Economics-Poland. He has published over 50 research papers in reputed
journals. Justin was a reviewer for 40 articles for 25 plus journals in the year 2016. Prior to joining academia, he has served as a bank manager for 2.5 years in Export-Import Financing department. Other Tips: 1. Elsevier/Wiley/Springer/Sage journals are faster, after acceptance, to publish the articles online, in comparison to other companies. Those four get Fast rating in Speed (from the date of acceptance to the date of publication). 2. We would like to have your feedback on this. Email to
[email protected] 3. Speed Rating in Column 7 is based on the weighted avge score of data in column 2, 3, 4 and 6. 4. Authors need to understand that editors are busy as they get many papers and editors need to understand that authors check the online status daily after the submission.
