PROFILE NORTH WEST REGION

Murray PHN North West (NW) region covers three Local Government Areas (LGAs) including Buloke, Mildura and Swan Hill. It also includes two Primary Care Partnership (PCP) regions. The population of the three LGAs in the North West area is approximately 78,095 with a total land mass of 37,398 sq km. The NW region has 33 general practices, one large regional health service and a range of small rural health services. The North West office is located in Mildura. Buloke Shire Population: 6,384 Land mass: 8,004 sq km

Mildura Rural City Council Population: 50,979 Land mass: 22,330 sq km

Swan Hill Rural City Council Population: 10,366 Land Mass: 3,732 sq km North West Population: 67,729 Land Mass: 34066 sq km

Staff profile A diverse mix of professionals with varied backgrounds and extensive networks create the North West team. There are a number of different positions and areas of responsibility within the North West office. Importantly, the team are working together with local agencies and services to support general practice while enhancing the health experience of the community through facilitating integration of the health system.

North West Regional Manager Dale Thompson The Regional Manager provides leadership to the team as they work in partnership with general practice, community services and hospitals to support population health planning and delivery of effective and efficient health service. Dale has strong connections to the North West area, excellent qualifications along with an extensive work history in the health system as a clinician and manager in rural and regional Australia.

Medical Advisor TBA The medical advisor will ensure the needs of general practice are identified and addressed.

Health Systems Coordinator Troy Bailey The health system is complex and multi-faceted and often presents as confusing to the patient and to the general practice workforce. The primary purpose of this position is to work with all health services within the region to assist in identifying key relationships and systems that need to be coordinated in order for the patient to better navigate the health system.

Primary Health Services Coordinator Rhonda Gallienne This position works with services that Murray PHN has contracted to provide services to the community. The position monitors and reports the outcomes delivered by the organisations who provide the contracted service.

Primary Care Coordinator Brendan McGarry The Primary Care Coordinator supports general practice to improve front line health service delivery. This position supports quality improvement initiatives and coordinated care.

Workforce Development Officer Allison McTaggart This role is critical to ascertaining and understanding the professional development needs of general practice. The Workforce Development Officer coordinates CPD events, and looks at emerging themes in the primary care health sector.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health program ensures quality outcomes for the target population. Key components of the program include coordinated care, facilitating access to health care providers, identifying access issues for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and recommending strategies to address the access issues.

Aboriginal Health Outreach Worker Louise Tarrant The Aboriginal Health Outreach Worker collaborates with a range of key stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the community to access health care services.

Indigenous Health Project Officer Amanda Paterson The role of the Indigenous Health Project Officer is to improve access to and support the capacity of mainstream health services to deliver culturally competent services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Administration Support Lisa Callipari Administration Support is the first point of contact for enquiries at North West reception.
