SPEAKER PROFILES Atchison Consultants was established in 2001 to provide advice regarding financial and investment assets to major funds, focusing on property investment portfolios, including appraised based and listed Australian and global property. Previously, he was with the global firm Towers Perrin as a consultant, advising funds on improving investment performance by ensuring effective investment policies and management structures were in place. His consulting clients include major superannuation and insurance funds and industry participants. Ken is a member of the Property Council of Australia, the Investment Management Consultants Association and Finsia - the Financial Services Institute of Australia. KEN ATCHISON Managing Director Atchison Consultants Amy Auster is Global Head of Marketing & Client Engagement in the International and Institutional Banking Division where her team is responsible for all marketing activity and sales campaigns driven by ANZ’s strategic insights and product expertise.
Amy joined ANZ in 2005 and has held positions as Chief of Staff to the CEO for International and Institutional Banking, Head of Foreign Exchange Research and Head of International Economics Research. She is a member of the ANU Investment Advisory Committee, the Banking Research Reference Group at the Australian Centre for Financial Studies and the Deakin University Policy Forum Advisory Committee. Amy previously worked at Chase Securities, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan in New York as an economist and fixed income strategist. She holds an honours degree in arts from Northwestern University in Chicago and a Master's Degree in Economics and Finance from Columbia University in New York.
Syd is an Executive Director at CP2, having joined in September 2010. Syd is a proven growthoriented CEO with extensive change agent experience in Australia and Asia, and is known for his thought leadership within the investment industry. Syd was CEO of Victorian Funds Management Corporation for five years, which managed A$30 billion on behalf of the State of Victoria. Previously he was the Managing Director Asia-Pacific, Baring Asset Management for seven years, and a Principal at Towers Perrin consultants for 17 years working in Melbourne, Hong Kong and New York.

He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Australian Centre for Financial Studies which fosters links between industry and academia. Until recently Syd was also a Director of the Canadian based International Centre for Pension Management.
Kevin Davis is a Professor of Finance at the University of Melbourne. Prior to joining Melbourne in 1987, he was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Adelaide. His primary research interests are in the areas of financial institutions and markets, financial engineering and corporate finance. He is co-author/editor of sixteen books in the areas of finance, banking, monetary economics and macroeconomics and numerous journal articles and chapters in books.

Kevin is on the Board (and previously Chairperson) of the Melbourne University Credit Union, and the Board of SIRCA. He has developed and presented numerous training programs for banks and businesses. He has undertaken an extensive range of consulting assignments for financial institutions, business and government, including preparing a report for the Federal Government on Financial System Guarantees. Most recently, the Federal Government appointed Kevin as a part-time member of the Australian Competition Tribunal. He is a Senior Fellow of Finsia and a Fellow of the FTA and of the AMI Institute, and a member of the Economics Society Australia, Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand, American Economic Association, American Finance Association, Financial Management Association, Asian Finance Association. Research Interests – Financial institutions management, treasury management, financial engineering, corporate financial policy, financial markets.
Mark is the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Investments Officer of AustralianSuper, acting as an advisor to the Board, developing and implementing investment strategies, and managing the work of AustralianSuper's investment advisers. Mark was the Chief Executive of the Superannuation Trust of Australia (STA) for three years prior to the merger with ARF to form AustralianSuper. Prior to AustralianSuper, Mark worked for 14 years at National Mutual/AXA, moving his way through the company from Economist to Senior Manager of Investment Services. He also spent four years working as an economist in the Federal Department of Treasury.

John Donovan is the Managing Director and founder of Melbourne based funds management and marketing company AFM Investment Partners Ltd (AFM). AFM’s clients are involved across different asset classes including Australian equities, global equities, Indonesian investment opportunities, private equity and alternatives. He also serves as an independent compliance committee member of two managed funds; one in Australian equities and the other property.
JOHN DONOVAN Managing Director AFM Investment Partners Ltd Dr. Slim Feriani, CEO & CIO, joined Advance Emerging Capital in February 2005 from Martin Currie Investment Management Limited; where he was a director and senior portfolio manager for the long only global emerging markets portfolios, hedge fund products in Asia, institutional portfolios in the Global Products Group and the global commodities sector. Before that he worked as a senior investment analyst on the Middle East and North Africa regions within the Emerging Markets Group at Nomura International in London. Slim completed an MBA in Finance & Investments in 1989 and a Ph.D. on the same subject in 1995, both at The George Washington University where, between 1989 and 1996, he taught as Professor of Finance and International Finance. Mr. Nguy has >24-years of investment management experience beginning in 1987. He has an exceptional track record achieving long-term value creation for his clients across asset classes. Mr. Nguy is particularly adept at manoeuvring successfully through periods of economic uncertainty and stress to protect client capital. He is known for his ability to interpret market signals and analyse macro-economic data to position investments for out-performance. Mr. Nguy began his professional career in Canada in 1984. He returned to Hong Kong in 1987 to join Indosuez Asia Investment Management where he managed several funds including the “Asian Income Fund” and highly successful “Malacca Fund”. This experience sharpened his fixed income and macro-economic skills, as well it provided him with a platform to develop his abilities to create, launch and manage successful investment funds, a pre-cursor to the founding of Income Partners. In 1990, Mr. Nguy established Lippo Investments in Hong Kong and Jakarta on behalf of Indonesia’s Lippo Group. This experience not only honed his entrepreneurial business acumen and ability to develop successful client focused investment products, but it led to the historic meeting of Mr. Tjia, who joined him at Lippo in 1991. He completed his MBA at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in 2012, is a Fellow of Financial Services Institute of Australasia, Associate of the Tax Institute of Australia, admitted as a solicitor by the Supreme Court of the ACT and completed his undergraduate degrees of Commerce and Law at the University of Sydney. He is married to Phi and has a young daughter who aspires to be a partner of this firm in the future. Craig joined the Future Fund after 13 years working for both the Commonwealth Treasury and Australia’s sovereign debt manager, the Australian Office of Financial Management. Craig has been with the Fund since inception and was a member of the in-house Strategy team from 2007 to 2012. In July 2012 Craig took up the new role of Director – Emerging Markets; leading the Future Fund’s efforts in better understanding the complexities of investing in Emerging Markets across all asset classes. Craig graduated from the Australian National University with both a Bachelor of Commerce degree and post graduate qualifications in Economics.
