$39 in advance / $45 day of concert ~ Trombone Shorty's new album, Parking Lot Symphony, branches out wildly, wonderfully, funkily across 12 diverse cuts. True to its title, this album contains multitudes of sounds from brass band blare and deep-groove funk, to bluesy beauty and hip-hop/pop swagger and plenty of emotion all anchored, of course, by stellar playing and the idea that, even in the toughest of times, "Music brings unity." The beloved bandleader, singer, songwriter and horn-blower - born Troy Andrews - was raised in one of the Treme's most musical families. Andrews got his name when he picked up his instrument at four ("My parents pushed me toward trombone because they didn't need another trumpet player," he laughs). By eight, he led his own band in parades, halls and even bars: "They'd have to lock the door so the police couldn't come in." Promoters would try to hand money to his older cousins, but they'd kindly redirect them to the boy. In his teens, Andrews played shows abroad with the Neville Brothers. Fresh out of high school (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) he joined Lenny Kravitz' band. In the last four years, Andrews banked his fifth White House gig; backed Macklemore and Madonna at the Grammys; played on albums by She & Him, Zac Brown, Dierks Bentley, and Mark Ronson; opened tours for Daryl Hall & John Oates and Red Hot Chili Peppers; appeared in Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways documentary series; voiced the iconic sound of the adult characters in The Peanuts Movie; inherited the esteemed annual fest-closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in the tradition of Crescent City greats like the Neville Brothers and Professor Longhair; and released Trombone Shorty, a children's book about his life that was named a Caldecott Honor Book in 2016. Across three Trombone Shorty albums and many collaborations since, Andrews nurtured a voracious appetite for all types of music, a phenomenon on fluid display with Parking Lot Symphony. Franti and his band guarantee a show that will be thought provoking as well as energetic. Franti has a new single, "Once A Day" from his upcoming debut album on Fantasy Records. "Once a Day" was inspired by his son's diagnosis with a rare kidney disease called FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) in the hopes that this song would inspire anyone in the world who is going through challenging times. "My belief is that through music, dance and gratitude for this life we can all 'rise up'," explains Franti. "Once A Day" was produced by Supa Dups (Eminem, Damian Marley, Bruno Mars) and features special guest Sonna Rele. $58 in advance / $65 day of concert ~ One of the most popular singers in modern country music, Vince Gill is famous for his top-notch songwriting, world-class guitar playing and warm, soaring tenor, all wrapped up in a quick and easy wit. His first solo album, Turn Me Loose (1984), earned him the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist Award. Gill achieved his big breakthrough in 1990 with "When I Call Your Name," which won both the Country Music Association's Single and Song of the Year award as well as a Grammy. The album was certified double platinum for two million copies sold. His next albums, Pocket Full of Gold (1991) and I Still Believe in You (1992), were also multi-platinum successes. The release of When Love Finds You (1994), which featured the Top 10 singles "What the Cowgirls Do" and "Whenever You Come Around," marked Gill's crossover to the pop charts. The albums, High Lonesome Sound (1996) and The Key (1998), had phenomenal sales and helped make Gill one of the most recognized and beloved artists in the industry. In 2006, Gill released These Days—a four-disc project featuring a variety of musical styles, such as bluegrass, western swing, pop and traditional, and several popular guest artists, such as Leann Rimes, Bonnie Raitt and Michael McDonald. Gill has won a total of 18 CMA honors - including Song of the Year four times - making him the most-awarded artist in that category in CMA history. Since 1990, Gill has won 20 GRAMMY Awards. The Academy of Country Music has conferred on Gill eight awards, including its prestigious Home Depot Humanitarian Award and the 2011 Career Achievement Award. Gill was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In August 2012, Gill was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. $54 in advance / $60 day of concert ~ With songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. He is best known for "You Got A Friend In Me," "Short People," "Mama Told Me Not To Come," "You Can Leave Your Hat On," "Louisiana 1927," and "Sail Away." After starting his songwriting career as a teenager, his songs were covered by Gene Pitney, Jerry Butler, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Jackie DeShannon and the O’Jays. His TV work included Dobie Gillis, Lost in Space, Peyton Place and Voyage to The Bottom of the Sea. Newman launched into recording as a singer and pianist in 1968 with his self-titled album Randy Newman. Throughout the 1970s he released several other acclaimed albums such as: 12 Songs, Sail Away, and Good Old Boys. His songs have been covered by Three Dog Night, Joe Cocker, Tom Jones, Etta James, Bette Midler, Harry Nilsson, Nina Simone, Judy Collins, Art Garfunkel, Wilson Pickett and the Everly Brothers. In addition to his solo recordings and regular international touring, Newman began composing and scoring for films in the 1980s. The list of several dozen movies he has worked on since then includes The Natural, Awakenings, Ragtime, all three Toy Story pictures, Seabiscuit, James and the Giant Peach, A Bug's Life, and most recently, Disney/Pixar's Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters Inc. (which he also scored). Randy Newman's many honors include six Grammys, three Emmys (including “It’s A Jungle Out There,” the theme to the TV show Monk), and two Academy Awards (out of 20 nominations), as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. $64 in advance / $70 day of concert ~ Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 building a following with her confessional lyrics and smoky vocals in songs like "Bring Me Some Water," "No Souvenirs" and "Ain't It Heavy," for which she won a Grammy in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am (1993) featuring the massive hits, "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My Window," a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single, "I Want to Come Over." Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996. In 2007, she celebrated a victory in the "Best Song" category at the Academy Awards for "I Need to Wake Up," written for the Al Gore documentary on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. In October 2004, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer, a health battle that, with her typical tenacity, she won. Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy, Etheridge appeared on the 2005 Grammy telecast to sing "Piece of My Heart" in tribute to Janis Joplin. By doing so she gave hope to many women afflicted with the disease. In October 2016, Melissa Etheridge released Memphis Rock & Soul, her first album since 2014's critically lauded This Is M.E. Recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis, the album has received stellar reviews from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, Parade, Rolling Stone, American Songwriter and more. Guitar World raved "the album is a triumphant application of Etheridge's signature rasp and substantial guitar chops to this classic genre," while Edge Media Network declared Melissa "is a singer who can fire it up like Janis Joplin, touch the heart like Elvis Presley and steam up the windows like her musical hero, Otis Redding." The album celebrates the artists, legacy and vital role Stax Records played in the Civil Rights Movement. Find more info at: melissaetheridge.com. One set. No opening act. $34 in advance / $40 day of concert ~ The O'Connor Band's very first performance took place at the legendary Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas in 2015. Less than a year and a half later, they took home the 2017 GRAMMY Award for Best Bluegrass Album for their debut recording, Coming Home. In a whirlwind 18 months, the band has also performed at the GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony, received standing ovations at the Grand Ole Opry, reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums chart and partnered with powerhouse booking agency William Morris Entertainment. They have put together a show unlike any other, one that blends country and pop sensibilities with Americana rawness, bluegrass drive, and chamber music sophistication, one that has begun winning over audiences at festivals, clubs and the world's premier theaters. The O'Connor Band is the product of Mark O'Connor's imagination - one that has served him well over the course of his four-decade professional career. A former child prodigy and national champion on the fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, Mark has won numerous GRAMMYs and CMA Awards, appeared on hundreds of commercial country albums, collaborated with the likes of Johnny Cash, Wynton Marsalis, Dolly Parton, and Yo-Yo Ma, and performed everything from original violin concertos to swing and jazz. In addition to Mark, the band features his son Forrest, (Harvard graduate and former Tennessee State Mandolin Champion), daughter-in-law Kate (frequent performer on the CMA Awards and CMA Country Christmas shows), and wife Maggie (graduate of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University). The four of them play together as though they have been sharing the stage for many years. "We all grew up listening to my dad's music," says Forrest, "so in a sense, we've been preparing for this band for a majority of our lives." The band is rounded out by Joe Smart (national flatpick champion on guitar) and Geoff Saunders (bassist/banjoist extraordinaire and recent graduate of the University of Miami's DMA program). $32 in advance / $35 day of concert ~ Ryan Montbleau has been an acclaimed singer, songwriter, and bandleader for more than a decade, but with his new album, I Was Just Leaving, the New England-based artist has truly arrived. Contemplative and richly emotive, the album offers a glimpse into the often-lonesome life of the relentlessly traveling troubadour, a strikingly single-minded existence too often clouded by the blur of constant motion. Recorded at New Orleans' Esplanade Studios over in 2016 with producer Anders Osborne and engineer/mixer Mark Howard (known for his work with such icons as Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Neil Young, and U2), the album marks Montbleau's first full length release in the wake of a series of seismic personal shifts. After twelve years on the road Montbleau found himself at a crossroads in 2016. “Within a very short time, my world got flipped around. My partner was gone, my band of ten years was gone, my friends were all far away. The one thing I had was a career, because it turns out that was all I had worked on. When the dust settled, I realized I didn’t really have much of a home life. I thought all along that I had been building a home but it turned out I was just leaving. That’s where the title of the song and the record came from.” Songs like "Bright Side" and the touching title track reveal a uniquely blessed artist who has truly found his voice, his gift for melody and a remarkably open-armed approach. Montbleau has been among America's finest songwriters and performers, earning national attention and a fervent fan following with songs like "75 and Sunny" and his breakthrough cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car," the latter a Spotify smash with total streams now in excess of 14 million. "Bright Side," the album's first single, is perhaps the song most emblematic of Montbleau's growth as both a human being and artist. At once finely etched and strikingly direct, "Bright Side" is an ideal distillation of his approach to songwriting, balancing multiple shades of emotional nuance with a fearless, unfettered sentimentality that ultimately leads to a greater truth. An artist's artist, Montbleau has collaborated with such diverse performers as Martin Sexton, Trombone Shorty, and Galactic. Find more info at: ryanmontbleau.com. $45 in advance / $50 day of concert ~ Over the course of more than a dozen years and six studio albums, Amos Lee has continued to evolve, develop, and challenge himself as a musician. Among his best known songs are “Arms of A Woman,” “Shout Out Loud,” “Keep It Lose, Keep It Tight,” “Sweet Pea,” “What’s Been Going On,” “Seen It All Before,” “Won’t Let Me Go,” and “Windows Are Rolled Down.” With SPIRIT, he makes his biggest creative leap yet. Along with such monumental events as working with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (a performance which yielded Lee's most recent release, Live from Red Rocks), being a band leader over the last decade has also helped Lee hone his craft as an arranger. "I have a great, great band - the most gentle, genuine, musically open-minded people," he says. "I push them some, but they always respond with creativity, and they inspire me to open things up musically. The versatility of my live band has been a gradual concept I've been working on since I started playing at the club The Tin Angel in Philly in 2002. Back then, we would play three- or four-hour shows. We had horn sections, violins, extended jams, improvisational songs, and whatever else would come from the ether. This current group of players I have on the road with me has re-inspired me to be more open, and less protective. I think SPIRIT reflects this attitude, and the vibrations are very much reflections of the connections. This new energy is most apparent in a song like "Vaporize," which served as a jumping-off point for Lee's vision of the record. But it was equally important that the album's more straightforward, "singer-songwriter"-style songs were infused with a different approach. For Amos Lee, SPIRIT is the fulfillment of dreams and aspirations - musical, personal, and professional - that he's had for a long time. Find more info at: amoslee.com.

$42 in advance / $45 day of concert ~ Dawes has come home. After recording its last two albums, Stories Don't End and All Your Favorite Bands, in Asheville, North Carolina, and Nashville, respectively, the Los Angeles band has returned to the city that has been both home and inspiration since its inception in 2009 to record its fifth album, We're All Gonna Die, with longtime friend and Grammy nominated producer Blake Mills at the helm. For the band-guitarist/singer Taylor Goldsmith, drummer Griffin Goldsmith (Taylor's younger brother), bassist Wylie Gelber, and new keyboardist Lee Pardini, who took over from Tay Strathairn last fall-it also meant getting to a point where everyone felt they had found a sound that was uniquely their own, equivalent to an author finding their own voice. "From the first song I wrote, 'We're All Gonna Die,' it was clear that this wasn't going to be a folkie record at all. This was an opportunity for us to be a new band. Not just a rock band, not just an alternative band, but a new band. One that maintains all the weird personality traits that our other records might have had, but that also brings them out even more. It's something that fans hardly expect from Dawes, which has always bridged generations and genres, writing music you feel you already know, with a familiarity and a resonance that seemed to echo from earlier times in rock's great canon. It's one of the reasons they have found great favor with classic rock artists such as John Fogerty, opening up for him, acting as backing band for Jackson Browne and Robbie Robertson, even appearing on Robertson's album How to Be Clairvoyant. In 2013, they opened for Bob Dylan for six weeks. On this album, you hear the joy and camaraderie, from the close relationship between the band members to such friends as Jim James, Jim Keltner, Brittany Howard and Will Oldham, who all make an appearance on "When the Tequila Runs Out," and Mandy Moore and Lucius' Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe, who pitch in their lovely voices on "Picture of a Man." Earlier singles from Dawes include “Things Happen,” “Time Spent In Los Angeles,” “A Little Bit Of Everything,” “From A Window Seat,” and “All Your Favorite Bands.” Find more info at: www.dawestheband.com Dawes will perform two sets. $53 in advance / $60 day of concert ~ A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums over three decades. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas -based musician fuses elements of Americana, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Whether touring as a Duo or with his Acoustic Group or The Large Band, Lovett's live performances show not only the breadth of this Texas legend's deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences, making him one of the most compelling and captivating musicians in popular music. His hits include “If I Had A Boat,” “Passionate Kisses,” "That's Right (You're Not From Texas)," "I've Been to Memphis," and "Give Back My Heart." In 1986, Lovett released his self-titled debut album. His 1989 album, Lyle Lovett and his Large Band won the 1989 Grammy for Best Male Vocalist. In 1994, he picked up two more Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Collaboration for "Funny How Time Slips Away" with Al Green and Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal for "Blues For Dixie" with Asleep at the Wheel. In 1996, The Road to Ensenada received the Grammy for Best Country Album. The 1998, two-disc CD Step Inside This House was a tribute to Lovett's early Texas songwriting influences. That was followed with Lovett's first live album, Live in Texas in 1999. His 2003 album, My Baby Don't Tolerate, reflects his usual jazz and western swing influences but also shows that he continues to switch artistic gears. He maintains a country label because he holds onto the attributes of his past: ironic detachment, twisted humor, serious songwriting, and the capacity to jerk a tear or two. His 2007 release, It's Not Big, It's Large debuted and peaked at #2 on the Top Country Albums chart. His latest studio albums are Natural Forces (2009) and Release Me (2012). Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association's inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was named Texas State Musician. $47 in advance / $50 day of concert ~ At age 80, Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues. Buddy Guy has received 7 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, 34 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." Buddy Guy released his latest studio album Born To Play Guitar in 2015, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Albums chart. The follow-up to his 2013 double disc release, Rhythm & Blues, which also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Albums chart, Born To Play Guitar features guest appearances by Van Morrison, Joss Stone, Kim Wilson and Billy Gibbons. Buddy Guy was born in Louisiana. In 1957, he took his guitar to Chicago, where he would permanently alter the direction of the instrument, first on numerous sessions for Chess Records playing alongside Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, and the rest of the label’s legendary roster, and then on recordings of his own. His incendiary style left its mark on guitarists from Jimmy Page to John Mayer. “He was for me what Elvis was probably like for other people,” said Eric Clapton at Guy’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2005. “My course was set, and he was my pilot.” He was awarded the 2012 Kennedy Center Honor for his lifetime contribution to American culture. Also in 2012, he published his memoir, When I Left Home. These many years later, he keeps looking to the future of the blues through his ongoing work with his 18-year-old protégé, Quinn Sullivan. “I worry a lot about the legacy of Muddy, Wolf, and all the guys who created this stuff,” he says. “I want people to remember them. They all told me that if they left here before I did, then everything was going to be on my shoulders. So as long as I'm here, I'm going to do whatever I can to keep it alive.” More info at buddyguy.com. Opening the show is Quinn Sullivan. More information at quinnsullivan.com. $36 in advance / $40 day of concert ~ For nearly half a century, mandolinist / composer / bandleader / producer David Grisman has been a guiding force in the evolving world of acoustic music. His musical range is wide and deep, embracing many styles, genres and traditions. An acoustic pioneer and innovator, David forged a unique personal artistic path, skillfully combining elements of the great American music/art forms of jazz and bluegrass with many international flavors and sensibilities to create his own distinctive idiom of "Dawg" music (the nickname given him by Jerry Garcia.) Grisman discovered the mandolin as a teenager growing up in New Jersey. In 1963 Grisman made his first recordings both as an artist (Even Dozen Jug Band Elektra) and producer. In 1966 Red Allen offered David his first job with an authentic bluegrass band, the Kentuckians. Grisman began composing original tunes and playing with other urban bluegrass contemporaries like Peter Rowan and Jerry Garcia, with whom he would later form Old & in the Way. David's interests spread to jazz in 1967, while playing in a folk-rock group, Earth Opera. His burgeoning career as a session musician gave him experience playing many types of music and opportunities to stretch the boundaries of the mandolin. His discography is filled with notables including Jerry Garcia, Stephane Grappelli, the Grateful Dead, John Hartford, Del McCoury, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Earl Scruggs, James Taylor and Doc Watson. After recording for major and independent labels, David founded Acoustic Disc in 1990 and entered the most prolific period of his career, producing 67 critically acclaimed CDs (five of which were Grammy-nominated.) In 2010 he launched AcousticOasis.com, the first download website devoted to acoustic music. Recently Grisman has revisited his roots with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience (DGBX) and also plays blues and old-time music with his old jugband-mate John Sebastian. He lives in Northern California with his wife Tracy, an artist and musician. Between them they have seven grown kids and four grandchildren. $54 in advance / $60 day of concert ~ 50 years ago, singer-songwriter Stephen Stills met singer-songwriter Judy Collins, known for her piercing ocean blue eyes. Their tumultuous love affair would later be immortalized by Stills with his composition "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash on their landmark debut. Both artists would go on to shape modern music with visionary approaches, but Stills and Collins' short fiery union remains a transformative era for the two artists. This summer, the two icons of folk will celebrate the golden anniversary of their formative time together. Their joint summer tour marks the first time ever Stills and Collins have been onstage together. For this once in a lifetime experience, the two music legends will pull from their rich catalogs, debut songs from their upcoming album, due out Summer 2017, and share warm and intimate stories from their journeys and the 1960s folk and Laurel Canyon scenes they helped build. Stills and Collins met in 1967 and dated for two years. Stills wrote and demoed his legendary love song to Collins right after he left Buffalo Springfield, before he joined CSN. "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" is a five-section romantic epic brimming with heartfelt sincerity. The song has been ranked #418 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time Poll. Stills is known for his work with Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and his solo work including the hits "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield and "Love The One You're With" from his solo debut. He's ranked #28 in Rolling Stone Magazine's "The 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time." He also has the added distinction of being the first artist to be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame twice in one night (for his work with CSN and Buffalo Springfield). Collins is known for her eclectic palette as a solo artist, melding folk, rock, classical, and jazz into a singular aesthetic. She's earned five Grammy nominations including one in 2017 and one Grammy win. Outside of music, Collins has published two memoirs, one novel, and, in 1975, was nominated for an Academy Award for the documentary Antonia: A Portrait of the Woman. $29 in advance / $35 day of concert ~ Classic Albums Live is known for perfectly reproducing albums on stage song for song, note for note. This performance will include horn and string sections. Sgt. Pepper is such a common part of our lives. For the past 50 years we've had Pepper journeying alongside us as we trip through life. There's been a ton of writing and critical praise heaped upon the album so that it's close to impossible for a piece of art to stand up to such lauding. But Pepper does in fact stand up. It may be one of the most important pieces of art ever created -- so much so that it makes the Mona Lisa frown. And unlike monumental feats of architecture, you don't have to travel to the other side of the world to experience it. More people have listened to Sgt. Pepper than watched Citizen Kane. Combine and add up all the Bach, Brahms and Beethoven record sales and you'll find that they don't come close to selling as many albums as Pepper. All the albums that Classic Albums Live performs are classical albums, but Pepper is the flagship. When Classic Albums Live first took it on, it was intimidating but we found the heart of the album. The first time we performed it, there being a palpable buzz in the air. No one had ever performed the entire album prior to us, let alone boast the 'note for note' claim. The show was magical. The next morning, the Toronto Star's review called the show "Joyful" and "Thrilling." It's an honor to be on stage with this incredible piece of music. We know how to perform this album. We've been doing it for 10 years and living with it our entire lives. And we keep Getting Better. All the Time. Find more info at: classicalbumslive.com. First set is Sgt. Pepper. Second set is Beatles classics. Note: For the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, remastered albums with previously unreleased alternative tracks have been released as well as a book and TV documentary honoring this work. $40 in advance / $45 day of concert ~ Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse, collaborative and adventurous careers in contemporary music. Throughout his career, Hornsby has maintained the integrity, virtuosity and artistic curiosity that have been hallmarks of his work from the start. Hornsby and his band The Range's first album The Way It Is (1986) catapulted the band to stardom, playing Saturday Night Live and opening for Steve Winwood, John Fogerty, Huey Lewis, the Grateful Dead and the Eurythmics before becoming headliners on their own tour supported by Crowded House. Soon Hornsby was being approached regularly to collaborate with a broad range of musicians and writers, a demand that continues to this day. He has played on records for Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Bonnie Raitt ("I Can't Make You Love Me"), Willie Nelson, Don Henley, Bob Seger, Squeeze, Stevie Nicks, Chaka Khan, Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver), Leon Russell, Warren Zevon, Bernie Taupin, Brandon Flowers (of the Killers), Cowboy Junkies, Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck, Randy Scruggs, Clint Black, Sara Evans, Clannad and many more. He has worked on his own records with Ornette Coleman, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Sting, Elton John, Mavis Staples, Phil Collins, Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter and Justin Vernon. His songs have been recorded by another broad array of artists including Tupac Shakur (his iconic "Changes"), Akon, Chaka Khan, Don Henley, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, Mase, Randy Scruggs and Robbie Robertson. Bruce and the Range opened shows for the Dead in 19871990 and after the tragic death of Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland the band asked him to play with them. Boott Mill Rehabilitation Completed
Behind the Boarding House Park stage is the Boott Mill complex consisting of 810,000 square feet of space. After the textile era, it became home to many small industries until eventually becoming vacant. Wang Laboratories purchased Mill #6 to the right of the stage for manufacturing but never proceeded with that project, ultimately selling it to the National Park Service which invested $15M and opened its Boott Cotton Mill Museum in 1991. The museum contains a replica weave room with 88 working power looms, a second floor museum space, and its education center - The Tsongas Industrial History Center - which has hosted over one million visits - on upper floors. There are also offices for employees of the Lowell National Historical Park and the NPS Northeast Regional Office. In the late 1980’s Congress Group Properties undertook a $28M rehabilitation of the South Mill – the one directly behind the stage – for office use and also upgraded the warehouse building that is attached to the boardinghouse. Today both are owned by Farley White Interests and the South Mill houses office and technology companies. In 2004, Winn Development invested $30M to create 154 units known as the Apartments at Boott Mill, just across the courtyard from the museum. In 2006, developer Ed Barry invested $7.5M in 42 condominium units, but additional units were delayed due to the economy. Winn Development returned in partnership with Rees-Larkin Development to invest $37M to complete the remaining portions of West Mill by creating 44,000sf of office space and 96 additional apartment units in 2014. The entire Boott complex is now completed with total investment exceeding $117 million dollars.
2017 Mill Projects Underway Lowell continues its amazing progress in mill renovation with three very important projects this summer. Rees-Larkin Development and the Mullins Company have invested $27 million in the Massachusetts Mills on Bridge Street downtown to produce 70 apartments at the long vacant Picker Building, which has recently begun renting units. At the Hamilton Mills, Winn Development is nearing completion on 77 apartments in 100,000 square feet at Mill #4 and the Lowell Community Health Center is converting another 100,000 square feet of the vacant Mill #6 into new dental and eye care clinics and internal care medical offices to augment the Lowell Community Health Center next door. Sal Lupoli of Sal’s Pizza is rehabilitating the former Thorndike Factory Outlet mill on Thorndike Street into apartments, offices and a restaurant to be known as Thorndike Exchange. Upon completion of these projects, a remarkable 98% of Lowell’s 5.3 million square feet of downtown historic mill space will have been renovated over the past three and a half decades into apartments, condos, offices, a health clinic, high technology R&D space, television studios, artist galleries, artist live/ work spaces, education and museum uses. Current projects will bring the investment total to $657 million.
