–1– You shall have no other gods.

When our relationship with God is our number one priority, we live life to the fullest by esteeming, embracing and trusting Him above all else. { Ryan Alexander, Lead Pastor }

WE’RE ALL AT DIFFERENT PLACES in our relationship with God. The more we focus on developing that relationship with Him, the deeper it grows and the more we mature in our faith. 1. TAKE 15 MINUTES

5. WRITE IT DOWN

2. A CONVERSATION

Ask God to show you a picture. Draw or describe what God is showing you. This is a great activity to do with your children. Encourage your kids to ask God what He thinks or how He feels about them. Sometimes it’s easier for children to hear God because no one has told them they can’t!

Take 15 minutes today. Go to a place of solitude (a room in your home, your favorite nature trail, drive up to the St. Paul Cathedral, etc.) and spend time with God.

Write down insights from your time with God in a journal or on note cards. Stick the note cards somewhere you will see them often. 6. OPTIONAL [GREAT FOR CHILDREN]

Begin a conversation. Simply ask God if you’ve made anything a priority above Him. 3. LISTEN IN SILENCE

Listen in silence. If you’re feeling distracted, ask God to help you hear Him. 4. KEEP IT GOING

God speaks in many ways. Keep the dialog going while listening to worship music, reading your Bible or even when you’re standing in line at the store or working out in your yard!

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

☞ What surprised you about this activity? ☞ When do you find it difficult to put God first in your life? ☞ What is one thing you can do today to help God remain your daily priority?

MESSAGE NOTES

Week 1 - The Field Guide to Real Life June 24/25

01

Life doesn’t promise a clear and easy path. We are surrounded daily by influences that can cause us to lose focus on what our relationship with God and others should look like. God gave us the Ten Commandments to help us navigate life better and become living examples of His character. In this series, we will explore God’s ‘Field Guide to Real Life’ to strengthen and enliven our relationships, with Him and others.

FRONT COVER DESIGN Traditional Jews of the time referenced the Hebrew word for ‘gods’ as Elohim, which means ‘creator’. It is with this knowledge that THE DOUBLE HELIX strand is used to represent both the first commandment and ‘real life’. Representing more than just the obvious connection to life, the DNA symbol also represents that there’s only one true God - the creator of everything. He created a perfect world before sin, and we were created to live in perfect relationship with Him. This is the definition of real life.
