Based on The Letters of A Successful TD and An Irish Minister of State by John B Keane Adapted for the stage by Jon Kenny, Mary McEvoy and Michael Scott Starring JON KENNY and MARY McEVOY Directed by MICHAEL SCOTT Sat 1 July 8pm Tickets €20*/€18*
ONE OF YOUR OWN – A VOTE FOR TULL IS A VOTE FOR YOURSELF! The Successful TD follows the trials, tribulations, misadventures and hilarious antics of Tull McAdoo as he seeks re-election to the Dáil in the “October Elections”. Written in 1967, John B Keane displays his edge for humour and satire that are uncomfortably close to the politics of today… peppered with Keane’s gallery of madcap characters this show will have you laughing at politics (in a good way) from the start.
Fri 7 July, 8pm Tickets €15*/€12*
The author Joni Crone was the first lesbian to ‘come out’ publicly on television in Ireland when she appeared on The Late Late Show, aged twenty six in 1980. This play explores the role she played in the Gay Rights’ movement and it also charts her own personal quest for inner peace.

Future Islands believe in true love, you can tell that because their songs speak through our lives. It’s as if their music has always been with us, soundtracking every great hope, dawning realisation and broken promise. Every fond embrace, each leap of faith. Over the last eight years Baltimore’s most quixotic and emotionally involving trio have maintained an admirable level of skill and pace, never slowing down for the corners. It’s vocalist Samuel T. Herring, William Cashion (bass, guitars), and Gerrit Welmers (keyboards, programming, guitars) who find themselves responsible. Their sound is at once beguiling and irresistible. It’s one part melancholic, one part euphoric; full of animated bass lines, robust drum machines and questing keyboards, all set off by Sam’s remarkably distinct, soaring vocal.

Woyzeck in Winter is an electrifying fusion of two masterpieces: Büchner’s Woyzeck and Schubert’s Winterreise.

Thrillingly reimagined by Conall Morrison and a leading creative team, this visually stunning new production, sung in English, promises to be a Festival highlight.

Sink down upon us. Night of love, make me forget I live. Cornish King Mark is at war; he rules with his head not his heart. But he hasn’t counted on falling head over heels for his enemy’s sister, or expected the arrival of the enigmatic Tristan. Seen through the eyes of the Unloved, Tristan &Yseult, the most successful and beloved of all Kneehigh shows, is brought to life in an irresistible night of theatre that blends comedy, live music and performance to deliver a story of grand passion and tender truths. Award–winning director and artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe, London, Emma Rice and writers Carl Grose and Anna Maria Murphy have reinvented this ancient story – a love triangle between the warrior Tristan, his uncle King Mark of Cornwall and the beautiful Yseult – breathing new life into the legend and bringing it crashing into the here and now. This acclaimed production of Tristan & Yseult catapulted Kneehigh onto the international stage and has been hailed by critics as ‘a triumph’, ‘deliriously joyful’, and ‘breathtaking in every respect’.

“It isn’t often that a play with a dramatic intensity of American Buffalo comes to the Broadway theatre.” NEW YORK POST
One of America’s greatest playwrights, David Mamet infused American Buffalo with his trademark style and dramatic craftsmanship, creating a theatrical tour de force that stands the test of time. In a Chicago junk shop, three small-time crooks plot to rob a man of his coin collection, the showpiece of which is a valuable “Buffalo nickel”. The three conspirators fancy themselves as businessmen pursuing the legitimate concerns of free enterprise - but in reality, they are merely small-time crooks, and all of their plotting amounts to nothing in the end. American Buffalo is a triumph of language and a devastating snapshot of what human beings are capable of doing to each other when they run out of options.

El Camino de Santiago, or the Way of Saint James, is one of the oldest and most popular of all spiritual pilgrimages, undertaken by over 200,000 people every year. Many of these pilgrims undergo a Rebirth Renovatio on the path from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, which is often considered metaphorical for the journey from cradle to grave. It is against this backdrop that the conceptual documentary Looking for Infinity: El Camino was born. The film offers an intimate and fascinating insight into the pilgrim’s journey, seeking to probe some of the timeless questions confronting humanity. The journey starts with the first step on a path of over five hundred miles; walking, sleeping, eating; life once again becomes simplified to its essential nature. Film duration 60 minutes.

THE MAN IN THE WOMAN’S SHOES Mon 18 September 8pm It’s October 1978. Pope John Paul I is not long dead and Pat Farnon has ‘some business’ to do in town. A man with a boundless enthusiasm for life, this show is funny, tender and at times downright daft. It has played to standing ovations since 2012 when it was commissioned by Sligo Arts Centre and the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo for Bealtaine Festival.

The piece reveals an intimate, playful and dramatic dialogue between body and instrument, cello and cellist, cellist and dancer, and ultimately a man and woman.
