What is a bridge? A bridge is a structure providing passage over an obstacle without closing the way beneath. What is psc? Pre-stressed concrete is basically a concrete in which internal stresses of a suitable magnitude and distribution are introduced so that stresses resulting from external loads are counteracted to a desired degree

Existing bridge,

• 15 years old. • High intensity of traffic in NH. • Up gradation of all NH roads to 4-lanes in progress.

Covers all the major concepts and topics of civil engineering.

PSC bridge

Structural design.

Data collection(hydrological, geological, and geotechnical)

Surveying and preparing index map of area and fixing an alignment of proposed bridge)

Hydrological design

Deciding materials and calculating design discharge.

Foundations are designed conforming to IRC 78-2000 as per the required depth and type of foundation. Substructure (abutments and piers) are designed conforming to IRC 78-2000 as per the calculated loads. Superstructure.

1. Deck slab is designed conforming to IRC 18-2000 and IS 1343-1983 using pigeauds curves. 2. Girders are designed using influence line diagram and courbon’s theory.

Materials used must conform to IS 1343-1980 and IS 1785(part 2)-1983
