DIRECTIONS STIR OR SHAKE BEFORE USING. 1. Cut pipe square with hand saw or pipe cutter and remove burrs from inside and outside diameters. 2. Clean pipe and fitting socket with Centaur Pipe Cleaner. Wipe off with a clean, dry cloth. 3. Check dry fit. Pipe should easily go 1/3 of the way into fitting. Use Centaur Primer. Primer will penetrate quickly for better bond. 4. Apply a thin coat of cement into socket and a full even coat to pipe. WARNING: Use appropriate size dauber or larger applicator if necessary. Do not puddle cement in socket fitting. 5. Engage pipe into fitting with slight twisting motion. Be sure pipe is bottomed into fitting. Hold pipe and fitting for 30 seconds. Wipe off excess cement. 6. Allow cement to cure before pressurizing pipe 7.As stated in ASTM D2855, when installing thin walled bell end pipe, do not apply an excess of cement in the bell socket.

Properly used, this material will perform in accordance with applicable standards. Since we are unable to control conditions for which the product is being used, our only obligation will be the replacement of the cement.

CEMENT

PVC solvent cement contains methyl ethyl ketone, which breaks down the top layer of PVC on both the pipe and fitting to be cemented. It also contains PVC resin, which is essentially liquid PVC. Once the solvent breaks down the PVC pipe and fitting, the resin moves into the gaps between the PVC molecules. The solvent then evaporates and the two pieces of PVC are fused together permanently. Another important factor to take into consideration, is the size of the pipe. With larger pipe you need more resin to act as a filler. If the PVC solvent cement doesn't have the right amount of resin it can leave gaps when sealing and eventually fail. Centaur PVC Cement is the superior choice for top of the line electricians.

1. Cut the pipe square and remove all burrs. 2. Check fitting of pipe. If too loose or too tight, pipe should not be used. Ideal fit between pipe & fitting before cementing allows pipe to enter to full depth of socket easily. 3. Remove all dust, moisture, grease, oil and any other foreign material from pipe and fitting. Clean pipe an fitting with CENTAUR CLEANER and CENTAUR PURPLE PRIMER. While surface is still damp with primer apply cement as follows. 4. Apply enough cement uniformly to pipe & fitting to form a bead of cement at outside end of pipe. Prevent excess cement from forming on bare inside walls of pipe. 5. Brush cement generously on the outside of pipe to depth of fitting. Do not thin cement with primers or cleaners. 6. Immediately after cement is applied, insert pipe to bottom of socket, using a quarter twisting motion, and hold in place 30 seconds until cement sets. Assemble parts QUICKLY. If cement is not fluid, recoat both parts and repeat procedure. 7. Remove excessive cement with a dry cloth only. 8. Allow about 30 minutes for good handling strength. Cure time before testing depends on size, fit, temperature and pressures. Refer to ASTM SPEC. D 2855, for recommended set and cure time. 9. Keep container closed at all times when not using to avoid moisture absorption and vapor losses. Keep cement from freezing. 10. Follow all recommended procedures for joining PVC pipe and fittings as stated in ASTM SPEC. D 2855.
