11th Annual Providence Rhode Race The Providence Rhode Races will take place on Sunday, May 6th, and will feature a full marathon, half-marathon and 5k. The event is expected to draw approximately 2500 participants from nearly all 50 states and 18 countries and will raise more than $64,000 for local charities. The half marathon uses parts of the East Side, most notably Blackstone Blvd, makes a turn around in Pawtucket and comes back downtown. The full marathon uses much of the East Bay Bike Path, heads out through East Providence, turns around in Barrington at the RI Country Club, and heads back downtown. The race will begin and end on Exchange Terrace, in front of the RI Foundation Building and utilize long stretches of roads in both communities, but it is important to note that road closures are kept to a minimum. Most roads will be open throughout the race, some restrictions may be in place to keep runners safe, but there are alternate routes.
Half Marathon Traffic Impact
Roads will be managed by the Providence and Pawtucket Police Departments and will largely remain open to traffic throughout the day, but delays and temporary stoppages can be expected from 8am–11:30am.
