RECRUITMENT TO THE POST OF STENOGRAPHERS, ACCOUNTANTS AND JR. HINDI TRANSLATOR ON LONG TERM CONTRACT BASIS National Highways Authority of India, an Autonomous body under Ministry of Shipping, Road, Transport & Highways invites applications for recruitment to the post of Stenographers, Accountants and Jr. Hindi Translator on long term contract basis. Essential Qualifications:(i) Matriculation or equivalent examination of recognized Board/University. (ii) Shorthand Speed: 80 wpm (Hindi or English) (iii) Transcription speed of 30 wpm (English) or 25 wpm (Hindi) on computer (iv) Good working knowledge of MS-Office (v) Three years experience in relevant field (secretarial assistance) Desirable Qualifications:(i) Degree from a recognized university. (ii) Diploma/Certificate in Office Management/Secretarial Practice or equivalent/similar qualifications from Govt. Polytechnic or other reputed institutions. Age limit:Not exceeding 25 years as on 01.02.2009 (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates Relaxation for PH candidates will also be applicable as per rules. Salary:Consolidated emoluments of Rs. 11021/- + 12% employer’s contribution towards EPF + HRA & Transport Allowance as admissible under the rules.

Essential Qualifications:(i) Degree in Commerce (ii) Five Years working experience in commercial accounting Desirable Qualifications:(i) Degree in Commerce with 1st Division (60% marks) (ii) Pass in Intermediate Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI). Age limit:Not exceeding 30 years (35 years in case of candidates having passed intermediate of ICAI/ICWAI) as on 01.02.2009 (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates Relaxation for PH candidates will also be applicable as per rules). Salary:Consolidated emoluments of Rs. 12510/- + 12% employer’s contribution towards EPF + HRA & Transport Allowance as admissible under the rules.

Essential Qualifications:(i) Masters Degree in English/Hindi with Hindi/English as compulsory and an elective subject at Degree level OR (ii) Bachelors degree with Hindi and English as main subjects. Age limit:Not exceeding 30 years as on 01.02.2009 (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates Relaxation for PH candidates will also be applicable as per rules. Salary:Consolidated emoluments of Rs. 15120/- + 12% employer’s contribution towards EPF + HRA & Transport Allowance as admissible under the rules.

Stenographers:Based on performance in Written Test, Stenography & Computer skill test. Accountants : Based on performance in written tests, computer skill tests and interview. Jr. Hindi Translator: Based on performance in written, Translation, Computer skill tests and interview.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION: 1.

Stenographers:

1) English & General Awareness written test (test in General Awareness will held in English/Hindi) (only those candidates who qualify the tests will appear in stenography skill test. 2) Stenography test @ 80 wpm Transcription @ 30 wpm (English) or 25 wpm (Hindi) on computer. (candidates may opt this test in Hindi or English). 3) Computer skill test in MS-Office.

Accountants:

1) English written test 2) General Awareness & Accountancy written test (candidates may opt these tests in Hindi or English) 3) Candidates who qualify the above tests will be called for computer skill test (Tally + MS office)

The written test will be held at seven centres i.e. at Delhi (01), Mumbai (02), Chennai (03), Kolkata (04), Guwahati (05), Nagpur (06) & Thiruvananthapuram (07). (Candidates may clearly indicate choice of centre of written test in their application) In case the number of applications is too large, only those candidates possessing both essential as well as desirable qualifications shall be called for test/interview. SC/ST candidates who are called test/interview shall be paid traveling allowance as admissible under the rules (equal to SLEEPER class) by shortest route subject to production of caste certificate in original and proof of journey (Bus tickets, railway tickets number etc.) The examination will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the written examination will be conducted. Only those who qualify the written examination, will be called for skill test/interview. The skill test/interview will be held in Delhi. Canvassing in any form will result in summary rejection of the application of the candidates. Computer will be provided at the examination centre for skill test. Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
