ST. ANDREW BAY QUILTERS’ GUILD QUILT SHOW FEBRUARY 15 and 16, 2013 “American Beauties” The Quilt Show 2013, “American Beauties” celebrates America. Quilts which typify Americana will be recognized throughout the show with a red ribbon. Any era of American history can be reflected in a quilt. Join us for our parade of “beauties.” The 2013 Quilt Show is a judged competition. Only active members of St. Andrew Bay Quilters’ Guild may enter quilts into the competition. Entrants must be an existing member as of October 1, 2012. Quilts by non-members may be displayed as space permits. Quilters may enter one quilt per category. If more that one quilt is entered in any category, only one will be judged. The others will be for display. All quilts entered into the competition must have been completed in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013. All quilts must be in excellent condition – clean and odor free. Quilts not meeting this requirement will not be accepted for judging or display. THE QUILT SHOW COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MOVE A QUILT FROM ONE CATEGORY TO ANOTHER IF THE COMMITTEE FEELS THAT THE NEW CATEGORY IS MORE APPROPRIATE. No tied quilts will be accepted. No quilts utilizing preprinted panels may be judged. The Judge is the final arbitrator of appropriate category designations. All judged categories will be eligible for first, second and third place ribbons. Two honorable mention ribbons are available for each category as well. A Best of Show Ribbon and a Judge’s Choice Ribbon will be awarded by the Judge. An overall Hand Quilting Excellence Ribbon and an Overall Machine Quilting Excellence Ribbon will be awarded if the Judge feels that there are quilts, which merit this distinction. A Viewer’s Choice award will be presented based on the vote of the show attendees. For the Best of Show winner and Bedsize/ First Place Two Person winner a ribbon will be awarded to the quilt entrant and to the machine quilter (if applicable.) All entries must have a 4” sleeve casing attached to the back of the quilt. All large quilts must have a slit or opening in the middle of the sleeve so that an extra support hook can be attached for hanging the quilt. A quilt may have two separate sleeves in lieu of a slit in the large sleeve. Quilts less than 60” need have only one sleeve. A secured label must be on the back of the quilt listing the quilt maker’s name, address and telephone number. DO NOT USE PAPER LABELS. This label must be covered with a piece of muslin, which is sewn on or secured with safety pins. NO STRAIGHT PINS PERMITTED. If the quilt maker’s name appears in any other section of the quilt, it also must be covered. Each quilt submitted to the Show Committee must be contained in its own fabric bag (no plastic) with the quiltmaker’s name on the bag as well. Quilts are to be delivered to the Quilt Show Committee on February 12, 2013 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church between 9:00 – 12:00 Noon. Alternate arrangements need to be made to Beverly Pierzchala at (850) 217-8913. Quilts are to be picked up after 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2012 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

CONTEST CATEGORIES

1.

BED SIZE QUILTS A quilt intended for use on a bed. Width 63” or more. Length 80” or more 1.1 Any technique. May be hand or machine quilted. Made by one person 1.2 Any technique. May be hand or machine quilted. Made by two persons.

2. GROUP QUILT Any quilt which three or more people work on the construction or finishing in any way. 3.

WALL SIZE QUILT Any quilt intended for display on a wall. 3.1 SMALL WALL QUILT /PIECED Dimensions no larger than 160” total/no side larger than 40” May be hand or machine quilted 3.2 SMALL WALL QUILT/APPLIQUED Dimensions no larger than 160” total/no side larger than 40” At least 50% of quilt has appliqué. 3.3 LARGE WALL QUILT/PIECED Dimensions larger than 160” /each side larger than 40” but no larger than 80”. May be hand or machine quilted 3.4 LARGE WALL QUILT/APPLIQUED Dimensions larger than 160”/each side larger than 40” but no larger than 80”. At least 50% of quilt has appliqué

4. THEME/AMERICAN BEAUTY QUILT Any technique or size. May be hand or machine quilted. Quilt should reflect in some way the quilter’s interpretation of Americana. 5. MINIATURE Any technique quilted by one person. If blocks are used in the construction they should be no larger than 4” square. Quilts must measure less than 24” on each side. This category is not determined by size alone; quilt must be a small version of a full size quilt or wall hanging. 6. OTHER This category includes quilts which do not use three layers of fabric or are not quilted , such as Grandmother’s Flower Garden, Cathedral Window or Crazy Quilt. Also eligible are whole cloth quilts. Each quilt entered into the contest must have a Registration Form. This Registration Form must be received by the Quilt Show Committee by January 19, 2013. All quilts, with the exception of Other quilts, must consist of three layers (top, batting & back).

Panama City, Fl. 32405 St. Andrew Bay Quilters’ Guild presents Quilt Show 2013, “AMERICAN BEAUTIES”. This is an annual show highlighting the quilting talent within the Guild. Only active members of the Guild may enter the show. The show will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 5622 Julie Dr, Panama City, FL. The church is located at the corner of Hwy. 231 and Julie Dr. It is 4 miles north of the Mall on Hwy. 231. The Quilt Show is open on February 15 and 16, 2013 from 9:00 – 4:00. There is an admission fee of $5.00. Each quilt entered into the show is eligible for ribbon awards. The 2013 show is judged by an NQA certified Quilt Judge. All the beautiful ribbons awarded have been hand made by Guild members. In addition to viewing the 90 plus quilts displayed in the show, there will be a Silent Auction of hand made quilt items and a Quilt Shop where visitors can purchase hand made quilt related items. The Quilt Shop always features completed quilt blocks, which visitors may purchase. There is always a quick gathering of shoppers for these blocks. The Silent Auction bidding will end at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Wining bidders may purchase their quilts after this time. The Guild’s Opportunity Quilt is prominently displayed during the show. This quilt, entitled “American Beauty”, was made by Guild members and reflects our American quilting heritage. Tickets on this quilt are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Inquiries to purchase tickets may be made to: SABQG, P.O. Box 16225, Panama City, Fl. 32406. A drawing for the winner of the Opportunity Quilt will be held at 3:00 p.m. on February 16, 2013.
