Mini-Symposium Recent advances and challenges in geotechnical earthquake engineering

Significant developments have been made, in the last few decades, to provide more accurate and reliable design methods for structures, infrastructures and foundations, particularly, when subjected to dynamic (mainly seismic) actions. Numerical methods have played a major role in these advances. Nevertheless, their remarkable potential should be broadened and improved, since geotechnical earthquake engineering hazards are still difficult to mitigate. The Mini-Symposium “Recent advances and challenges in geotechnical earthquake engineering” will offer an opportunity for the presentation and discussion on several geotechnical earthquake engineering issues. All those involved with computational mechanics, related to geotechnical earthquake engineering, are welcome to present their recent experience and research findings. Contributions related to hybrid, analytical, as well as, experimental methods in the field of soil dynamics and earthquake engineering are also welcome. This Mini-Symposium aims to attract academic staff, researchers, post-graduate students and professional engineers dealing with advanced topics, which include but are not limited to: Performance-based design; Liquefaction and other types of major soil failures; Dynamic soil-structure interaction; Codes, standards and safety evaluation; Foundations and Ground Improvement; Retaining structures; Slopes, dams and embankments; Tunnels and lifelines; Wind turbines; Manmade vibrations. In order to submit your abstract, first you need to register on the Conference website. After completing the preregistration form, you will receive an email to validate your Account. After validation, you will receive a second email with your Username and password, which will be used to login to your COMPDYN 2019 Account. From your Account Overview Menu click My Abstracts/My Papers, click Submit an Abstract, choose Submit to Minisymposium and enter the MS code: MS-02-CB and proceed with the Abstract Submission following the instructions. The deadline for abstract submission to the Minisymposium is 30 October 2018. The Proceedings of the Conference – the full-length accepted papers- will be indexed by SCOPUS database.
