Cascadura (Haplosternum littorale) PRODUCTION MODEL Mohammed, Riyadh.; Garcia,Gary.; Jones,Kaila.

Abstract This paper serves to identify the potential of Cascadura production in the Tropics. In this poster, six factors of production are illustrated. Namely, nutrition, reproduction, housing, health and disease, animal behaviour and socio-economic considerations. The Cascadura is a very adaptable and hardy type fish that can be grown for meat production.

-Health and Disease Fin-rot can be resulted from; poor pond condition, physical damage or attack from parasites. Unidentified nematodes were embedded in the mesenteric linings of the fish. -Housing and Environment -- For adults, tall shrubs and grasses are provided in ponds to facilitate nesting. -- All other stages of life are managed carefully in smaller enclosures. -Socio Economic Considerations

References -Animal Behaviour-Very social animals that exist in schools -- Very defensive at nesting time. Produced July 2015
